All five Bismarck- Mandan choirs will combine to perform this well-known piece from the oratorio “Messiah.” If you need a moment to relax and truly enjoy the holidays, the com- bined voices of 300 young singers will make any to-do list fade from memory. Please make plans to join us on Thursday, December 15, and Friday, Decem- ber 16, at 7:30 pm at the Belle Mehus Auditorium in Bismarck. In addition to “Hallelujah Chorus,” the concerts will feature individual performances from each choir. Audience members will be treated to a mix of traditional Christ- mas music as well as some lesser known tunes. This concert series is sponsored by Basin Electric Power Cooperative. Tickets are available at Eckroth Music, Herberger’s, choir office, online, and at the door. On October 21st, 2011, Angelica, CDCC’s high school wom- en’s choir, hopped on a bus for an exciting three day trip to Minneapolis, MN. The first stop on their trip was St. Olaf College to attend a vocal clinic with Sigrid Johnson, a world-renown conductor of treble voices. The young ladies worked with Ms. Johnson, observed a rehearsal of the Manitou Singers, and enjoyed a tour of the beauti- ful campus. On Saturday, Angelica visited the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in the morn- ing and, in the evening, they attended Hairspray at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. Sunday, be- fore heading home, the girls performed dur- ing the church service at St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Cloud. It was a wonderful expe- rience for all the young ladies and a great way to start the season. Central Dakota Children’s Choir is excited to welcome a new choir in Dickinson, ND. Cantabile (Kän-tä´bĭ-lā) is di- rected by Maralee Sickler and consists of 34 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students from Dickinson and the surrounding area. The choir rehearses once a week at Dickinson State University and has already had their first per- formed at “Surround the State in Song” on October 15th in Dickinson. Cantabile will hold their first Christmas concert on December 11, 2011 at 7:30 pm at Dickinson High School Audi- torium. Cantus, CDCC’s high school mixed choir, will also be performing that evening at the concert. Tickets will be avail- able online at www.aboutcdcc. org or at the door the evening of the concert.
