Project focus

DeFishGear focuses on:

• The problem of polluting the sea withmarine litter and the economic impact oncoastal communities

• The monitoring and reduction of thequantity of marine litter in the marineenvironment and their effects on marineorganisms (fish)

• Setting up a system for collection andrecycling of derelict fishing gear, includingthe so called ghost nets, and collection offloating litter and litter from the seabottom, caught in the nets while fishing.

• Strategy for reducing marine litter pollution in the Adriatic Sea

• First assessment of marine litter pollution in the Adriatic Sea
