Dear Hill,

My apologies for taking so long to follow-up on our previous conversation during your last visit to DC. The

summer was fast approaching and we had to prepare for our Summer Youth Employment Program and grant

solicitation. I am excited about the progress of MYD. The letter you read from the young brother in prison is a perfect

example of how MYD is affecting real and tangible change through your books and work. My recent partnership with

DC Department of Youth Rehabilitative Services allows us to work with young brothers that are under similar

circumstances.

We both know that countless organizations have the best intentions when it comes to “saving our youth,”

however they are able to show no real progress of changed lives. Your decision to adopt a freshman class at Friendship

Charter Schools will allow your progress to be tracked and celebrated. Because my non-profit, Good Ground Good Life

(3GL)/ANDIYAH, is headquartered in Washington, DC, we would like to partner with you and MYD by supporting

your work with those students.

3GL/ANDIYAH is a two-tier organization that focuses on life coaching and mentoring. We strive to provide

equal opportunities for underserved youth by teaching essential tools for self-improvement. Our mantra is “We meet

them where they are, Give them what they want & Lead them where they need to go.” Within our 5 years of operation

we have been recipients of multiple awards; among them are financial grants from Freddie Mac and the Washington

Redskins. My business partner (Delyon Gigger) is the 2007 Foster Parent of the Year. The second tier of our

organization, ANDIYAH, provides economic support for non-paid internships. We level the playing field of career

opportunities by paying for housing and living stipends for students with financial challenges. This allows for a focused

apprenticeship.

Being based in the nation’s capital, 3GL can offer the following areas of support to MYD’s Friendship Charter

School Class.

• 3GL can provide out of school hour services to the students. This can be in the form of fieldtrips to the wealth of

cultural and academic resources in their own back yards. It can also be in the form of programs that take place every

afternoon in our 16000 sq foot facility in N.E. This building is metro accessible and is a safe academic and social refuge

for students.

• 3GL can provide nurturing support systems, encouragement, and guidance through mentorship and scholarship

programs to Friendship Charter students most in need of sound adult guidance. 3GL has a network of professional

volunteers who are willing to work with students who are suffering from behavioral or academic issues.

ANDIYAH Launches Celebrity Basketball Tour

to Support Military Families

Washington, DC - (December 2, 2009) Tarek “Terk” Stevens announced that the Holly-wood Hoops Festival Basketball Games will launch a tour to support men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces. For the last five years, Stevens has produced celebrity basketball games by enlisting some of Hollywood’s hottest stars to match their athletic prowess against local officials and community athletes.

During the upcoming season, rather than taking on local personalities, the stars turned athletes will match their skills against the U.S. military’s finest.

Hollywood Hoops vs. The Troops is a family friendly way to salute and celebrate the con-tributions of America’s men and women in uniform.

A portion of the proceeds goes to support the Fisher House and other organizations that are dedicated to providing financial support to military families.

“We hear about their sacrifices every single day on the news,” said Stevens, “The Holly-wood Hoops vs. The Troops is a great morale booster as well as a fun and entertaining way to say thank you to those serving in the military.”

The tour will feature games in six U.S. cities. Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, Detroit, MI, Fayetteville, NC, Virginia Beach, VA, Chicago, IL.
