Wedding ceremonies here are a little different. Each of her bridesmaids carried something that represented part of their new life together or that would be used in the service: like rice, pillows to kneel on during the prayer, golden coins, a lasso and the rings. It surely was beautiful, even though we all were busy and I was still making the dress for the flowergirl at 1:00 p.m . with the wedding at 7:00 p.m . There were about 125 present for that. This was on the 4th, so it was a little less con fusing than the 3rd, since we had already had a day of practice; but still there were many things to be done or redone —the decorations and a dinner to prepare. Everything turned out just great, and she thoroughly enjoyed her celebration. Then on the 5th, we all collapsed. While the girls and women were worrying with the wedding and ^ birthday party Merlyn and Guadencio killed and skinned seventy- five rabbits. This provided excellent food, and then later the skins were sold in Mexico City. In this way our animals help us a great deal, providing both meat to eat and money as well from their skins for other necessities.

They were Luz Maria Luisa, age thirteen; lleona (Nora), age eight;,and Abel, age nineteen —really nice kids, whose pictures I had taken but they didn't turn out since I washaving rouble with my camera. Also the farm family grew with pigs, rabbits, ducks, and turkeys. There never seems to be a dull quiet moment around here.

In the middle of the month I returned to the States again to renew my papers^, jt was a very enjoyabletrip though I almost froze in Missouri and then roasted while returning through Texas and northernMexico. I do believe I enjoy the weather in Mexico City, even though we have our rainy season, drip, drip . . . and the dry windy season, cough, cough . . ,

Well, time to close and get back to the work I still have to do for February. Many times we laugh 1/about the amount of time I spend doing things other than what 1have on my schedule to do during a IIgiven period of time. More about that next month . See you all then, and God be with each of youand may this new year be one full of many rewarding blessings as we both strive to work for ourLord better.

Greetings again from south of the border in the shortest month of the year, but by no means the shorteston activity here at Ninos de Mexico. God's wonderfulness was visible in many different ways, andwe are really thankful for them all. Here is just a ge'neral outline of what took place.

This month was one of nine birthdays at the home: Pablo —two, Hermelinda —nine, Cande —twelve, Wanda — , Ramon —eleven, Roberto —fifteen, Crucita —eight, Martha —eighteen, and Martin —four. What a busy month we had just celebrating birthdays. But, besides these

birthdays of physical years, we were able to celebrate

four herfer calves to rotse. Also, the other animals all have done their share this month, but the cowsare a little more important; but we appreciate them all.

Towards the middle of the month two mobil homes and three families visited, and for a couple of dayswere real wonderful workers. The men are seen here painting Don's office after finishing the rest.Hopefully, next month the offices will be moved into this new section.

For me the month

was a rather busyone. I had plannedto attend Spanishclasses, but justbefore the. start,we started a choir

Another wonderful month has passed with God being blessed and glorified in so many differentways. Things ranged from the joyful to the sorrowful. Here are just a few of the things whichhappened.

As was stated last month, I was sewing on special outfits for the children. These outfits were forour choir which would make a record during this month. The choir made the record and also sangfor the first anniversary of the Villa Coapa Church. What an interesting day the recording was, when nearly thirty of us went into Mexico City to make that LP in a beautiful professional studio. It was fun, but oh how tiring I Everything turned out so wonderfully in making the record that weknow that God was watching over us all the way.

4

After the record, things slowed down for awhile. Oneevening while watching the house during church, I madeice cream for a birthday. Around here even tfe smallest help when work needs to be done . HerePablo is helping with the ice cream . Unfortunately, he fell asleep before he had a chance to eathis work, but what fun he had!

As was hoped last month, we were able to move the offices out of the house and into the newoffice section. Merlyn and Don surely do appreciate their individual offices away from thechildren. These rooms aren't finished yet, but are far enough along to be usable, and will slowlybe finished in the months ahead.

The month ended on a most happy note . The church here in Chicoloapon had a pre-Easter revivalwith some of the students and faculty from the National Bible Institute (IBM). What a marvelous

week with about J^nty baptisms_from the area . After decisionsHhavebeenmade, wemust findaplace to have the baptisms, since thechurch as of now doesn't have a baptistry. So this time we wentto an irrigation tank and had our baptismal service right with theladies doing their laundry. If you look in the lower left corner, you can see the washing stone, but even this small inconveniencedoesn't bother us; since as we have the service we are showingthese ladies our

Well, time to say good-bye again till next month. "The year seems to be passing so swiftly, but when you are happy in what you are doing for theLord, time does fly. God be with each of you as the days pass and may He fill your life withHis love and blessings. Thank you all for your interest in me as the months are passing. Seeyou all next month with hopefully more interesting news from Minos de Mexico.

Hello Friends,'-i Vo' >r

Spring greetings from Mexico where God's marvelous power and help were again visible in somany ways. What a wonderful Savior have —one who keeps all His promises, if we willonly follow Him.

After the revival last month and the exposure the kids hadwith a band, they decided to copy them . So just outside myroom they gathered the equipment: soda bottles, buckets,

^ bleach bottles, and garbage can lids. Boy, what a racketlj ^ Icould hardly hear myself think. However, after a few days

' JA|I'' the band was disbanded, since the rest of us just couldn'tstand the

part

Of the participants were three of those fromNinos de Mexico: Gaudencio, Laura, and Enrique;and all three were gold medal winners all the way through and are now waiting for the Nationalcc*npetitions. Congratulations, kids, on your victoriesv

God proved to be with us one Thursday during the month.. Merlyn had gone to teach in MexicoCity and was returning late, when just about home and driving~where the road is under construction,he had an accident with.the van. Fortunately he wasn't seriously injured. Oh how we thank Godfor His watch care over each one of us.

Again during the month I took another course at the language institute . This certainly does keepme busy in so many ways, but they do help me speak better the language that I must use daily.Everything remains just the same too; my work really doubles. Am surely glad to be finishedwith it though, since I had some trouble with it. It's hard to understand areas of another languagewhen your own doesn't have the same things, and there is nothing to compare with it.

Page 8: Anders Karen 1975 Mexico

Please remember those here in your prayersas this new work is starting .

What a wonderful month7 tlidugh there werea few problems, but God hasn't promisedus a life without troubles, only a way toescape from them if we look closely. Godbe with each of you as you live your lifeso that as much as possible it will be atrouble-free one . See you all next month.

The older boys again killed a pig forthe house during the month . That freshpork surely does taste good . Seemslike each time they butcher more of theboys are helping, which is good sincethey are learning a skill in that way.

April was an especially exciting monthfor us since we started work on the newhouse which wiTI.serve asJJnit 2 ofNinos de Mexico. There is some workwhich must be done, but that won'ttake long since we have about thirty boyshelping which will make things go fast.
