What you need to make a Search Web Page
• Filemaker Pro Database 4 or 5 with Web Companion enabled
• Machine connected to the Internet • CDML Tool
(Comes with Filemaker 4)• Text editor or WYSIWYG HTML

Things to Consider Before You Start
• Is the database on a machine which can always be left on?
• Is the database on a machine with a static IP?
• Do you have separate fields in your database for each of your search criteria?
• Can all of the search fields be accessed in the same layout?
Getting the HTML and CDML for the Search Page
• Place Database in “Web” folder in FMPro• Open Database, CDML Tool, and
SimpleText• Select the Template Tab in the CDML
Tool• Choose your Database and Layout• Choose Search for Format File• Refresh and then copy to clipboard• Paste into SimpleText
Editing the Search Page
• <--Read the Comments--!> and then delete them.
• In SimpleText, edit the [FMP-field:FieldName1 ] information to specify the field you would like the search for.
• In SimpleText, name “path-to-file/ results.htm”
• Save file in “Web” folder in FMPro 4 or 5
Making the Results File
• In the CDML Tool, change the Format File to “Results”.
• Copy to Clipboard and paste into a new SimpleText Document.
• Save it as the name you gave the results.htm page.
Editing the Results Page
• <--Read the Comments--!> and then delete them.
• In SimpleText, edit the [FMP-field: FieldName1 ] information to specify the fields you would like to display as the search result.
