Introduction
I chose this topic because I find everything about Ancient Greece really interesting, especially Myths and Legends.
Gods and Goddess’s
Zeus was king of all the gods and the god of weather.
Athena was the goddess of war and Wisdom. She also looked after Athens.
Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty.
Hades was god of the underworld and brother of Zeus.
Poseidon was god of the sea and earthquakes. He was also brother of Zeus and Hades.
Olympic games
The first Olympic games were held in Olympia in Greece
Only men were aloud to compete in the first Olympic games
The Ancient Greek Olympic Games thought to have begun in year 776bc inspired the modern Olympic games(which started in 1890)
Greek Flag
The Greek flag is made up of nine blue and white alternate stripes with a blue square in the top left corner with a white cross
The blue and white are thought to represent the sea and the waves
This is the flag of Greece
Greek money
Before 600bc the Ancient Greeks traded goods instead of money
By 500bc each city started minting there own coins
Merchants only took coins from their own city
Visitors had to find moneychangers to exchange their coins
The Aegean Sea
The Aegean Sea surrounds Athens
King Aegeaus, the king of Athens, jumped off a cliff into the sea and from that day forward that sea is known as the Aegean sea
This is a map of the Greek Islands
Myths and Legends
Myths and Legends are usually based on a true
Story.
These are some Myths or Legends:

Pandora's box
Perseus and the Gorgons head
