the gods and goddesses.

There are about 2,000 gods and goddesses that the Egyptians believe in.

Each god has a different power.

Such as: Horus (sky god) Amun -Ra (sun god)

The Role of Women

They believed that the women were very important to the society.

They were able to have children.

They were expected to get married, but the men could have more than one wife.

The woman mostly ran the household and they could start a family at any age.

formed the basis of Egyptian art, medicine, Astronomy, Literature, and Government.

Egypt's religious animals were sheep, bulls, gazelles, and cats.

These animals were considered holy animals.

Importance of the Nile Provides trade for

the Egyptians.Brought fresh soil up

onto the land.Gave the Egyptians

an opportunity to catch many fish.

Provided preventions of attack.

Three of the Egyptian gods tied in with the Nile for various reasons.

Ra- (sun god)The sun and the lakes are two main parts of the world.

Amun- (most powerful god) so he controlled the waters.

Khnum- (creator god) so he created the waters.

AfterlifeAfterlife was very

important to the Egyptians.

It was the most important part of life.

Wealthy people get buried in stone tombs and get valuable stuff.

Those who have a light heart mean they lived a life as a good person.

If your heart is lighter than a feather, you can go through the mummification process.

The Story of Isis & OsirisIsis was an ancient

god of the Egyptians.Isis and Osiris were

part human , part animal.

During the Middle Kingdom Anubis was replaced by Osiris.

Back then Osiris was named The Burial King.
