Wild Child http://youtu.be/NdYXF6JESPc

This is the Wild child poster and I think the conventions of this poster is the colour scheme which is pink and is seen on nearly all chick flick genres. The costume of the other girls is a school uniform this makes us think that the audience for this chick flick might be of a younger audience. The title of the poster is quite unusual because it is halved into one with diamonds and one with just purple writing to match the other colour used in the scheme. The main girls costume in contrast to the other girls is quite glamorous as she is wearing a dress and has a lot of accessories on like the sunglasses and the scarf. The proxemics of the poster is also very interesting because it shows us who the main character is going to be which is the girl who is standing at the front and the other girls are placed far left hand side – which is contrasting. The tag line ‘a new term for trouble’ with the word ‘trouble’ being put in bold is interesting because it catches the eye with the alliteration and is hinted that their is going to be disruption to a calm environment. The repetition of ‘new’ has a linear structure and tells us bluntly what the films about summed up in 6 words – this convention is commonly seen on film posters.

The trailer for wild child explores the chick flick genre well because it uses conventions such as slipt screen to show the action is quite equal and is quite dramatic. The transitions used are also conventional because it has elements like wipe hen the action is picking up usually in the middle of the trailer. Other transitions used are fading to white then it will flash to another image this is done to show that there are loads of different elements to her life. With the background which is white look better for the colours to stand out it also makes it look fresh and subtle. The non diegetic sounds of the phone ringing and the song which is being played over the top of the voice over. The voice over highlights the fact that she doesn’t know what’s happening this gives us an insight into the film which makes us over see the characters. The insert of the text like ‘comes a story’ slows down what’s happening and lets you pause and reflect what is happening as trailers normally try to cram so much into 2 minutes. The audience is of a female young teenage girl this is shown with the use of colour scheme which is pink and purple. The trailer also uses wipe which is a interesting transition suggests that its going to be action packed and drama filled. The use of costume at the begging when all the girls are in a group is very fashionable they are wearing fancy dresses with big handbags and sunglasses. The mise en scene when they are in the group shows us they all are taking pictures on their mobile phones which makes us notice they are modern and current this is why it is best suited for the audience of a younger generation.

Bridesmaids http://youtu.be/nsUEd2cUIqo

This is the poster for Bridesmaids and it is also using the convention of the pink which is the chick flick genre. The costume that they are wearing suggests from the title as well that they are going to a wedding which gives it the element of glam. The audience that would be focused on this type of film might be middle-aged women that are looking at getting married or who are married it is aimed at the older market for chick flicks. The textures that are used which is ruffle creates shadows so it is already highlighting that it wont be all nice and happy but maybe including a twist. From the relaxed positions they are standing in it is clear that this wont be any old traditional wedding but on to which has a twist. The title is placed at the top of the page and is in a very chunky font making it stand out from the wall.

This trailer includes the colour design white which matches with the theme of wedding and is therefore fitted with being girly. The trailer also includes point of view shots and this shows the focus and the pressure on girls to be a maid of honour. The trailer also includes inserts of text which are advertising the fact that the produces have made films such as the 40 year old virgin and knocked up. The non diegetic music which is a rock and roll type music is contrasted with the stereotypical wedding music which this film is not about. The colour design for one of the scenes is white this is a commonly seen colour at a wedding.
