ANALYSIS OF CUSTOMER RESEARCH

Page 2: Analysis of customer research

AUDIENCE• As the questionnaire was taken

by mostly females, it has skewed the result. The data only shows what a female audience looks for; however, luckily the main demographic for our music video is female.

• Again, the results are slightly skewed by the fact that mainly 16-20 year olds took the questionnaire. We still received fairly varied results from this question, but the remainder of the questions will reveal what a younger audience looks for.

AUDIENCE• From this we see varied

results but it still shows that all of our audience watches music videos.

OPINIONS• We asked this question to

verify the importance of music videos, to see if our audience thought people would be more likely to purchase the music after seeing the video. The results were almost equal, 36% said no and 45% said yes, while 19% said they were unsure.

OPINIONS• From these questions we can

see our audience likes narrative music videos (ones with some sort of story) as opposed to performance videos.

• This question is more difficult to analyse because, while there is a strong preference for serious and thought provoking videos, the highest-scoring answer is ‘other’. This gives us more options when creating our own production, as we can assume our audience do not mind either way.

OPINIONS• These results display

that the audience like the setting and costume the most. When we create our own music video, we will need to ensure the costumes and setting are of high quality.

OPINIONS• From this question we

can see that most of our audience does not think the music video should be relevant to the song. This gives us more freedom when creating our own video as we would not be restricted by the lyrics of the song.

OPINIONSWhat do you like to see most in a music video of your choice? • Something unusual, something that takes me by surprise • The artist/band • A Story Line • The singers having a good time • something that's interesting and captures my attention. Could be good vocals, good dancing, beautiful

scenery • Strong female protagonist • dancing, sometimes the fans and their response • I like the subtle messages that 'true fans' understand, but is pleasant for other viewers to watch• Ed Sheeran

• These open questions give the audience the opportunity to tell us exactly what they want. As this is more specific, it means we can tailor our own production to what the audience wants.

• This question gave us very varied answers but it is clear that our audience is looking for something interesting and unusual, that is also fun and appeals to the public as a whole, rather than just fans.

OPINIONSName some of your favourite music videos. • Taylor Swift's 'Shake it Off'; Foo Fighters' 'Learn to Fly' and 'Walk' • sia's • Make it stop by Rise against, nine in the afternoon by panic at the disco and Odd one by Sick Puppies • Good Girls-5 Seconds of Summer Oh Cecilia-The Vamps Lego house-Ed Sheeran • What goes around - Justin timberlake, • thinking out loud • Concrete Angel • shake it off - Taylor Swift, all about that bass - meghan trainor, changing - paloma faith • Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud

• These results are slightly hard to analyse, mainly because obviously the audience have different tastes in music, but the main genres here are pop and rock. However, the rock videos generally include men in bands performing, and the pop videos include female solo artists performing. Strangely, there are only a couple of narrative videos in this list, despite narrative videos being voted higher than performance in a previous question.

• We will take these results into consideration when creating our own video.
