INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on the purchase of your Precision Solar Powered Radio Controlled Watch.

Be sure to read this instruction manual before using the watch for the first time. After reading the manual please keep it in a safe place for future reference.

Your Precision watch is a world band (multi frequency) watch. It incorporates a highly sensitive radio receiver that receives time signals from the UK, Europe, US and Japan according to the time zone setting on the watch. Your Precision watch even adjusts automatically for daylight saving time.

Automatic Time Setting

Your Precision watch receives the available atomic clock sig-nal automatically at 3:00am every night according to the time zone setting (go to time zone setting for details).

Everything is done automatically.

Automatic Time Setting

Your Precision Watch receives the available Atomic Clock signal automatically at 3:00am every night according to the Time Zone setting (go to Time Zone setting for details. Everything is done automatically.

Battery Management

When the battery level is low, the LCD display shows a flashing, empty battery icon and the seconds hand runs 2 steps every 2 seconds. When this is the case, all button functions and signal reception will be prohibited. If the battery is not charged up in time, the hands will stop to save battery power at 12 o’clock. You will need to charge up the watch. This may take a few days if the battery is too low. The watch will automatically set itself once the battery level returns to normal. The battery icon represents different battery charge levels as below.

Recharging Time

Notes on Recharging

• Avoid recharging at a high temperature (over 60oc) such as placing it on a dashboard of a vehicle or too close to an electric lamp.

• It is recommended that the watch should be charged up once a month to direct sun light or under a strong fluorescent lamp.

• The watch may need several days to charge up (depending on the charging environment) from a complete stop if the battery is too low. Wait patiently until the watch is charged up and resume normal operation.

Caution: The watch should not be overheated or it will be damaged forever.

SOLAR POWER RECHARGINGYour Precision watch is charged by all ambient light, whether that is from a natural or ar-tificial power source. Avoid overheating as it will damage the watch permanently. When the watch is fully charged, it can run for around 12 months on a single charge.

Notes on Recharging

• Avoid recharging at high temperatures (over 60°C) such as placing it on a dashboard of a vehicle or too close to an electric lamp.

• It is recommended that the watch should be charged up once a month in direct sun light or under strong fluorescent lamp.

• The watch may need several days to charge up (depending on the environment) from a complete stop if the battery is low. Wait until the watch is fully charged to resume operation.

How it works

• All light is absorbed through the transparent watch dial.

• A solar cell situated beneath the dial converts the light into electrical energy to power the watch. With regular exposure to ambient light the watch will continue to charge.

• The battery stores enough energy to power the watch, even in the dark.

Daylight Saving Time On/Off (for travelling purposes)

The daylight saving time of your watch is preset to on. Watch Hands (hour, minute and second hand) Alignment

The watch hands need to be aligned when the watch hands are shifted

1. Pull out the crown when the second hand is at 12:00:00 to stop it from running2. Rotate the crown to set Hour and Minute hands at 12:00:003. Don’t push in the crown. Hold S1 for around 10 seconds and then release the button4. Push in the crown5. The hands start spinning. Wait until the watch matches with the internal time and resume normal

running.

TROUBLESHOOTINGSecond Hand Shifting

Your watch is a very delicate and precise instrument. Although uncommon, sometimes hard knocks or vibrations can cause the hands to move irregularly, and therefore display the incorrect time, although the internal clock is keeping accurate time. You may notice this when setting the LCD to “Second” and find that it is not synchronized with the analogue second hand. This shows the reference point of the analogue second hand has changed and the watch needs to be reset. Please go to “Reset the Watch” for details.

Watch Not Receiving Time Signal

Reason for not being able to receive the time signal include:

• Being outside of the radio signal area• Being in a built up area• Metal objects blocking the radio signal• Interference by computer monitor or TV

Ensure the watch is left by a window, as this gives the best reception. You may have to try different windows in the house to see which is best. You can test this by using reception status test described earlier. Please note that reception is always better at night.

11

Page 14: ANA-DIGI · PDF fileana-digi series. contents 1 : 2 - 16 : 17 - 18 : introduction solar power digital and analogue dial watch instructions ... rio (rio de janeiro)-----8. please note:

If your watch is unable to make contact with the radio signal, it will continue to function in the same way as a standard watch. The time will then be corrected the next time your watch receives the time signal.

Watch Stops or Runs 2 Steps Every 2 Seconds

When the battery level is low, the LCD shows a flashing empty battery icon and the second hand runs 2 steps every 2 seconds. If the battery is not charged up in time, the hands stop to save the battery power at 12 o’clock. This is not a malfunction. You will need to put the watch under direct sunlight or cool fluorescent light until the hand resumes running. This may take few days if the battery is too low. The watch will automatically set itself once the battery level returns to normal. Please go to “Charging the watch” for details.

Hour is Wrong While Minute is Right

If your Time Zone setting is incorrect, your watch will show the wrong time. You need to manually set it to the right Time Zone. Go to “Time Zone Setting” for details.

Second or Hour or Minute Hands are Wrong

Need to reset all hands to 12 O’clock. Go to “Reset the watch” for details.

No Display and Watch Hands Stop

If the battery is too low, the watch is not able to maintain the internal running time. When this is the case, the LCD screen does not show any display and the watch hands do not run. This is not a malfunction. If this is the case, the watch needs to be charged under strong light until the LCD displays “Set to 12”. After that, follow the “After Battery Replacement” to initiate the watch. If the watch does not show “Set to 12” after charging under strong light continuously for several days, then the battery needs to be replaced. Go to “Battery Change” for details.

The Nation Physical Laboratory (NPL) is the UK’s home of measurement and the nation’s timekeeper. NPL is responsible for operating the national time system and making accurate time available across the UK. The clock you have just received keeps accurate time by picking up NPL’s radio signal, called MSF, which is broadcast on 60 kHz from a location in Cumbria. This transmission carries a date and time code that radio controlled clocks use to set themselves to the correct time. The signal is controlled by atomic clocks at the radio station, and is adjusted to keep it in step with the national time maintained at NPL’s laboratory in south-west London. For more information visit www.npl.co.uk/time Your clock is controlled by the MF signal which is synchronised to the nation time scale at NPL, making it ‘forever accurate’.

There are times during the year when the signal is switched off for maintenance. Please check the fol-lowing web site for technical information: www.npl.co.uk/time
