Seymour Public Schools Seymour is a small school district of about 2,000 students that serves all public school children from prekindergarten through the 12th grade. The Seymour community places great importance on its schools and student learning is the highest priority. The schools offer a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes good teaching and best practices. The schools offer career and college prep courses and many special services in support of families to ensure that every student has the necessary resources to succeed. . The Seymour Public School District runs four schools. Chatfield-LoPresti and Bungay Elementary Schools serve students from kindergarten through the 5th grade, with the town’s prekindergarten program served by the former. •Cover letter outlining qualifications and interest in the Seymour superintendency

•Copy of updated, complete resume which includes a chronology of work history and educational background and

a preferred email address and phone contact

•Copy of Connecticut 093 certification or evidence of eligibility

•Copies of transcripts for all degrees held from all granting colleges/universities

(Finalist candidates will be required to supply official transcripts.)

•Three signed letters of reference from current or former employers and professional contacts

(Please limit reference letters to three letters written within the past two years.)

Qualified candidates, at minimum, are expected to meet the following general performance standards for the superintendent and must:

•Be able to create and sustain a positive learning environment

•Work to develop and maintain a climate of trust in the community using excellent communication skills

•Lead the district, community and school board in the development and implementation of a strategic plan

•Be a creative problem solver with a passion for innovation

•Create a collaborative decision making culture that is transparent and based upon best practice

•Be focused on raising student achievement using, among others, personalized learning strategies

•Be comfortable with change and bring change initiatives to closure in timely fashion

•Be confident and unafraid to make difficult decisions

•Be a good listener who is willing to translate new ideas into action

•Be familiar with responding to and acting upon NEASC recommendations

•Have experience with school budgets that focus on prioritization and reallocation of funds while continuing to advance opportunities for students

•Manage declining enrollment without loss of student opportunities
