Main elements of reform

Employer-led Trailblazers designing

and creating apprenticeships e.g.

Police Officer, Paramedic.

Employers get the opportunity to

set the skills, knowledge and

behaviours needed

Short, concise Apprenticeship

Standards that are not schemes of study

or curriculum plansProviding a ‘shop window’.

All apprenticeships have synoptic end

point assessment; grading.

Apprentices are signed off as fully

competent at the end and “job-ready”

All apprenticeships must last a minimum 12

months but Higher and Degree Apprenticeships

will typically be anywhere from 2-4 years or more

Continuing to drive up the

quality of apprenticeships

Give employers greater control over

funding

Enabling intelligent customers &

purchasers, getting the training

they want

• It’s not a real degree

• It’s for those less clever

• It’s for those who don’t want to study

• It’s for an easier life

• It’s not the best option

• You can’t do this route at a Russell

Group University

• It’s second best

• The pay is rubbish

• There’s got to be a catch!

It’s a very competitive route:
