Exciting New Entertainment Is Coming to Your HomeBlu-ray means incredible 1080p full high definition images.
Breathtaking sound from Dolby®TrueHD*1 and DTS™-HD*2. And five
times the data capacity of a DVD disc. Now Blu-ray means something
else too – a new kind of entertainment, made possible by a feature
called Bonus View. As you watch a movie, for example, the director
can appear in a small window and give you the inside scoop on what's
happening. Panasonic's DMP-BD30 is the first Blu-ray Disc™ player
to support Bonus View. In other words, the DMP-BD30 is the perfect
choice if you want to enjoy all the latest Blu-ray technology offers.

Picture-in-PictureWith Picture-in-Picture, a small sub-window is displayed over the main image. There are four Picture-in-Picture modes, each offering distinct functions. They include Enhanced Commentary, Backstage Pass Function, Peek Behind The Animation and Audio Mixing.
Blu-ray media goes a big step beyond the kind of audio commentary provided in many DVD movies, such as a director discussing the film. Enhanced Commentary makes it possible, for example, for the director or
Enhanced Commentary*
This lets you access additional information provided about people, places or things in a Blu-ray movie. Just use the remote control to select an element highlighted on the screen, and a sub-window opens with the information. For example, there could be notes about the clothing or accessories an actor is wearing or the restaurant in which a scene is set.*Depending upon program content.
Backstage Pass Function*While playing back a movie with dubbed-in voices – for example, a feature-length animation – this feature lets you watch in a sub-window as the voice actors read their parts. You can see the voice actors' gestures and expressions as they speak, giving you an inside look at a whole facet of moviemaking you've never seen before.*Depending upon program content.

actors to appear in the sub-window (as if they are standing in front of the screen) and point to actors or equipment as they make their comments.*Depending upon program content.
Bonus ViewAdvanced Interoperability
Bonus View is an advanced function added to BD-ROM Profile 1 Ver.1.1 - it creates a range of exciting new entertainment possibilities. It opens the door to new functions such as Picture-in-Picture (which displays a second image in a sub-window) and Audio Mixing (which lets you switch the sound between the main and sub-windows). *Actual functions vary depending on the Blu-ray Disc™.

Simulated example of functionality.
Audio MixingThe Audio Mixing function lets you choose which soundtrack to listen to: the one from the content playing in the main window, the one from the sub-window, or both at the same time.
Future PossibilitiesThe future is expected to bring a host of imaginative new features. For example, you may be able to purchase and download additional content from the website to an SD card, and play the Blu-ray movie and the content on the SD card at the same time, for new entertainment possibilities.

Pictures andSound that Capturethe Mood ExactlyThe DMP-BD30 draws on the same P4HD imaging
technology proven in the DMP-BD10/BD10A to bring out
the remarkable beauty inherent in Blu-ray Disc™. Then it
goes a step further by adding Deep Colour compatibility,
with 4,096 steps of gradation that provide even smoother,
finer-quality images. The DMP-BD30 also provides
1080/24p playback, so you can enjoy the same 24-fps
(frames per second) reproduction as the original movie.
And the sound is simply sensational, thanks to Dolby®
TrueHD and DTS™-HD bitstream output. Add it up, and
you get super-high-fidelity video and audio entertainment
that delivers the kind of emotion, excitement and impact
you've experienced only in movie theatres.

HDMITM V.1.3 with Deep Colour*
The DMP-BD30's HDMI output is Deep Colour compatible. While the earlier HDMI™ V.1.2 offers 8-bit, 256-step gradation, HDMI™ V.1.3 increases this up to 12-bit, 4,096-step gradation. This helps the DMP-BD30 reproduce natural-looking colours with smooth gradation and minimal colour banding.
*An HDMI™ V.1.3 compatible TV is required.
1080/24pPlaybackThe DMP-BD30 provides 1080/24p output. It reproduces movie images from a Blu-ray Disc in their original 24p form, with no need for conversion. You see movies in the same format used in movie theatres.
Precise Digital AudioUniPhier®'s advanced processing capability decodes audio signals (Dolby® Digital and DTS™) with high precision and outputs Dolby® TrueHD and DTS™-HD audio in bitstream form without degradation. It also brings re-mastering to the Blu-ray Disc™ for the first time ever.
The DMP-BD30 supports HDMI™ V.1.3 specifications, so it can output high bit rate audio signals (Dolby® TrueHD, DTS™-HD) encoded on Blu-ray Discs in bitstream. If used with compatible AV amp, the resulting audio is studio master quality sound.
HD Audio Codec Bitstream Output
The DMP-BD30's Audio Re-master function compensates for data lost in the compression process used in Blu-ray Disc™ and DVD recording. This helps create a fuller, richer sound that is faithful to the original.

HD NetworkingHD Networking with SD Card: The DMP-BD30 comes equipped with a slot for SD cards. Just take the SD card from your digital
still camera or HD camcorder, and you're ready to view HD photos and motion images on your TV.
Linking with an HD CamcorderThe DMP-BD30 can play back AVCHD-format images shot with an HD camcorder, such as the Panasonic HDC-SD9. Images recorded onto the camcorder's SD card are output directly from the DMP-BD30's HDMI terminal in their original, high-quality 1920 x 1080 resolution. The DMP-BD30 also provides an AVCHD Direct Navigator function that makes it easy to search for particular scenes.

Linking with a Digital Camera The DMP-BD30 can play back JPEG still images on an SD card, such as those recorded with a Lumix FX36 digital camera. The DMP-BD30 can output the images to 1920 x 1080 resolution – ideal for a full-HD TV – and output them via the HDMI terminal.* Using the Slideshow playback feature, you can play a music CD at the same time you're showing the photos, so viewers enjoy both beautiful images and your favorite music.
*JPEG and other still image sources converted to 1920 x 1080 resolution, while of high quality, will exhibit somewhat lower subjective image resolution than true, native 1080p full HD sources.
