When pop stars speak out, the world pays attention. • From rock to reggae to rap, Bruce Springsteen

to Pat Benatar to Herbie Hancock, 54 popular artists joined Little Steven to sing out against apartheid in South Africa. Their Sun City project is now available for educational use.

• Sun City was rated the number one song of the year by critics in Time, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone and The Village Voice. Here's what some had to say: "the beat is as irresistible as the message .. . solid music behind a solid cause ... packs a musical wallop ... " The album includes a special one-page insert of facts about apartheid.

• The Sun City videc;> was seen on all network newscasts, The Donahue Show, MTV and stations across the country. It is now available on videocassette, in a specially expanded version which includes a documentary. The program features interviews with the Sun City artists as well as leaders of the South Africa freedom movement, including Winnie Mandela. It is a fast-paced, informative resource.

• The Sun City book tells the inside story of this history-making project with full-color photographs of the artists. 30 pages of facts plus black and white photographs depict the somber reality of life under ~partheid. Coretta Scott King recently called it" ... one of the most informative and revealing books about apartheid yet offered."

• The Sun City teaching guide gives excellent suggestions for leading discussion after viewing the Sun City video or playing the song. Written by a social studies teacher, it is valuable for use in classrooms and community groups. The author has also prepared a comprehensive curriculum guide for teaching about apartheid.

All these resources are now available from The Africa Fund at an educational discount, and if you order the album, videocassette or book, you will receive a complimentary copy of the teaching guide.
