Girls Trip Movie By Malcolm D. Lee. This is to meet one of the conditions and

ABSTRACT
Taboo word is a word that is forbidden from being used in public and can also trigger
dangerous things. Some people claim that the use of taboo words is an appropriate
form of communication strong feelings and emotions. Taboo words can be seen from
various sources, such as movies, song lyrics, and TV shows. In this research, the
researcher discusses the type and function of taboo words used by the character in the
Girls Trip movie. The researcher used the descriptive qualitative. In this current
study, Girls Trip movie has been selected as an object. The researcher as a human
instrument and the document as a research instrument. The result of this research
stated as follows. First, there are four types of taboo words found in Girls Trip movie:
obscenity, epithet, profanity, and vulgarity. Obscenity becomes the most appears
meanwhile profanity becomes the lowest appears in Girls Trip movie. Moreover,
there are only three functions of taboo words that appear in the movie such as to show
contempt, to draw attention and to be provocative. When they want to express their
disrespect to another, most of the characters use taboo words.
