This is the first screen shot from ‘A Devil Inside’ trailer. The use of realistic dates and details makes the trailer more realistic and believable. This creates tension from the beginning of the trailer, giving the audience and indication of what genre the film is.

Page 2: Amys powerpoint

This is continuing from the phone call however, adding more scariness to the trailer by including death into it.

Page 3: Amys powerpoint

This is the final clip of the phone conversation, it comes to a conclusion with Maria Rossi, who is assumed to be the murdered, admits to killing the three people she talked so briefly about earlier in the phonecall. This gives the audience a bit of background information about the story.

Page 4: Amys powerpoint

This scary image shows a young Maria Rossi, the cut shot is only seen for a millisecond. This is used to startle the audience and make them jump with a scary image they won’t be able to recognise and it is shown so quickly. The dim lighting makes them feel uneasy.

Page 5: Amys powerpoint

The placement of this credit to production company ‘INSURGE’ is clever as it splits the trailer up.This is a calm break from the scary beginning which leads on to explaining a bit about the storyline of the film and give the audience a bit of information about what the phonecall was about at the start.

Page 6: Amys powerpoint

With the use of brighter lighting and more familiar surroundings, the audience feel more at ease watching this scene. It adds a lighter mood and gives the audience a chance to calm down a take a rest whilst watching it. This keeps them interested and holds on to their attention.

By using a news report in this trailer, it again, adds a more realistic element as it is a familiar concept that the audience is used to seeing in their everyday lives.

By using a news report in this trailer, it again, adds a more realistic element as it is a familiar concept that the audience is used to seeing in their everyday lives. In addition to this, a new face is introduced as Maria Rossi, relationships are now seen to be forming as the girl talking about it is her daughter, referring back to the earlier phone call by saying ‘When I was 8 years old, my mother murdered 3 people, she had committed these murders during an exorcism’

Page 9: Amys powerpoint

This shows a new character of a priest, with a concerned look on his face. This is in the same lighter location as they are all talking about Maria Rossi and her murders and exorcism.

Page 10: Amys powerpoint

This shows Maria Rossi before she committed the murders. This adds to the realistic effect the trailer has as it is a family photograph.

Page 11: Amys powerpoint

This establishing shot shows the location where the majority of the film takes place. The lighting in this shot is very grey and normal. It is quite simple and not that dramatic.

Page 12: Amys powerpoint

The use of religious imagery in this screenshot introduces a dark side to religion which is what the film is themed

Page 13: Amys powerpoint

The angle at which this shot is taken shows that it is from a handheld camera making it more realistic and believable.

Page 14: Amys powerpoint

Again, religious imagery is subtly shown here. The lighting in this shot is bright and comforting to the audience as they think nothing scary will happen in the day time, this gives them a shock later on in this scene.

As this shot appears to be from a CCTV camera in the mental hospital, it gives the audience the feel of realism and believability.

This is the same shot, however it is portrayed from a different angle giving the impression that it is from a cctv camera, monitoring her

Page 22: Amys powerpoint

This close up shot is used to emphasis the cut engraved in her lips. This shocks the audience as it gets very close adding an eerie feeling that something jumpy/bad is about to happen.

Page 23: Amys powerpoint

This over the shoulder shot shows how she is trying to draw her daughter in closer to her.

Page 24: Amys powerpoint

As the daughter goes in closer, so does the camera making the audience feel more involved in what is going on, giving them a shock when she screams abruptly.

Page 25: Amys powerpoint

Again, the use of the crackled CCTV shows the realistic side of this scene.

Page 26: Amys powerpoint

The dark dim lighting in this shot gives the indication that something bad is going to happen, and in addition to this the facial expressions in this shot are all very serious putting the audience on edge.

The use of darker lighting leading to bright lights shows that something is happening in that room that is significant to what is about to happen.
