Official statistics cover traded goods and consumption.

Fuel wood for private use is often traded in informal markets or used through auto consumption.

Wood for energy is a value traded good – poor definition in the harmonized trade HS/SITC.

National data on wood energy often tend to make a

Aggregates/estimates accepted and desired in case of missing details (collected under “Total”).

Correspondents are encouraged to reach out to specialistsand other involved sectors (energy, waste, statistics).

17 replies: Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Lithuania, Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and Canada + 5 statements of unavailable data.

5 pending replies:Italy, Estonia, United Kingdom, Germany and Norway.

The quality of the received data is good for the direct and partly for the indirect wood supply.

Problems could be found for the energy generation and the recovered wood …

Recovered wood is a weak point in many responses.

Excellent possibility for cooperation =>no danger of double counting

Actual work:Verification of the supplied data with other available data bases.Clarify remaining questions with the correspondentsComplete missing data based on studies/projects etc.

Data presentation:Feed national data into the Output Matrix and line out the importance of wood energy for wood and energy sector in each country (few desktop studies)Sub-regional sum-up (Europe and North America)
