Winter Exhibition Programme at Two Temple Place

The Bulldog Trust’s Winter Exhibition Programme combines the chance for the public to see the interior of Two Temple Place with the opportunity to showcase collections from outside London and support emerging curatorial talent. The Trust was delighted with the success of the first exhibition at Two Temple Place. The widespread media coverage of William Morris: Story, Memory, Myth (October 2011 – January 2012) helped entice over 51,000 visitors. The second exhibition, Amongst Heroes: the artist in working Cornwall (26th January 2013 – 14th April 2013) produced in partnership with the Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro, has been made possible with the support of public funding by the Arts Council England.

During this exhibition, as well as welcoming new audiences, we aim to double the numbers of school children welcomed to the first exhibition. We will be providing over 60 primary school groups in London with free storytelling and literacy workshops and piloting a more in-depth education project.

The Trust is keen to discuss ideas for future exhibitions and welcomes proposals. Please see www.twotempleplace.org/exhibitions for more details.

Engaging Experience Philanthropy Network to be piloted outside London

2013 will see The Bulldog Trust’s successful philanthropy network piloted in partnership with the Community Foundations. The EEPN was set up in 2009 as a way to inspire and connect interested professionals with charities seeking commercial skills. Since its launch the network has helped over 500 charities around London find new trustees and access a range of pro bono advice in business, HR, marketing, IT, finance and law. Members are contacted through email updates and regular events at Two Temple Place. Membership is free and new members are welcome. Please contact the Network Manager, Marina Sevier on [email protected] for more details.

“ Revolutionary” criteria-free funding initiative with The Golden Bottle Trust

In 2012, the Trust launched its first collaborative funding initiative with The Golden Bottle Trust, hailed by Philanthropy:UK as a ‘revolutionary “criteria-free” grant-making scheme’. The initiative aims to provide small to medium sized charitable organisations with the chance to access funding of between £1000 and £30,000 without a complicated and time consuming application process. The Trust was happy to receive over 170 applications and -grant decisions will be announced at the end of January. Applications for a second round will be accepted from February 2013 with a total of £200,000 to be distributed. For more details see www.bulldogtrust.org/grantmaking

Charity Case Study: NEBT

The New English Ballet Theatre is a new performance company that aims to support, foster and showcase the emerging talents of dancers, choreographers, musicians and visual artists in the UK. NEBT performs new works each year and promotes collaboration between disciplines. The Bulldog Trust is excited to have commissioned the extension of the short ballet Joy as part of the Cornwall Events season.

Charity Case Study: Read Easy UK

One person in six in the UK struggles with literacy yet many adults are too embarrassed to join a group class in the community. The first Read Easy group was founded in Dorset in 2010 to help adults learn to read through one-to-one tutoring. As word spread, the founder, Ginny Williams-Ellis, was approached with requests to set up similar groups across the country and Read Easy UK was born. Read Easy UK, founded in 2011 now oversees over four Read Easy groups. The Bulldog Trust is happy to be supporting the organisation over three years as it seeks to establish itself as a sustainable national body.
