The double Base Ball Powder® PropellantWinchester double-base powders contain a blend of nitrocellulose and nitroglycerine. The grains may be spherical or crushed depending on the type of powder. These grains are coated with a deterrent agent which acts as a burn rate moderator.

Unique advantages of double-base powder:

1. PERFECT ATMOSPHERIC STABILITY The double chemical basis of nitrocellulose and nitroglycerine guarantees identical powder performance under different temperatures and humidity, even in extreme conditions.

2. OPTIMAL COMBUSTION With the double base, the nitroglycerine increases the combustion energy whilst also ensuring ignition throughout the mass of the nitrocellulose which controls combustion progressivity. This results in total powder combustion eliminating powder residues in the barrel.

3. ACCRUED PERFORMANCE Double base powder results in a better spread pressure curve than other powders. This longer and slightly lower curve generates more progressive shot acceleration and distribution even with high speed powders, controlling and decreasing more effectively felt recoil.

Steel is less dense than lead.To compensate for this loss of mass and the resulting loss of energy, a lower number will need to be selected than the one nor-mally used for lead shotshells.

The steel shot shells have been produced principally for wa-terfowl hunting over water and wetlands where the use of lead shot is prohibited by law. Please be aware that steel shot:• Can damage the gun barrels; please be sure your gun is designed for this ammunitions• There is no deformation of the steel shot; the danger of ricochet is higher than with lead shot

Safety rules: Do not shoot at short ranges and keep the trajectory free of any obstacle.Wear eye and ear protection to protect them from possible ricochet of the steel shot.Be careful when eating game because steel shots may cause tooth damage. Do not use these shells in gun having Damascus or twist steel barrels or chambers shorter than shell length. Be sure that your gun is in good condition and designed for modern ammunition of this gauge. It is very dangerous to use shells smaller than the guage of the weapon.

Cartridges classified «high performance» to be used only in guns designed for steel shot cartridges and bearing the mark "Steel shot" or "Billes d’acier".For cartridges with steel shot of diameter greater than 4 mm, use with guns marked "Steel Shot" or "Billes d’acier" with choke smaller than 0.5 mm.
