Dear Clergy, Greater Cincinnati & National Leaders and Citizens:Thank you for your patience as my attorneys diligently work to prepare a legal brief on behalf of the "People" who want to see truth and justice prevail. This legal brief is to persuade the Ohio Supreme Court to take jurisdiction of my appeal. Over one hundred people sent letters to the OSC one month ago within two hours and my jail sentence was stayed pending appeal. We are asking citizens, churches, faith-based organizations, companies, civic & civil rights organizations that want to be a part of this history to request the OSC to take this case. I have enclosed two signature pages for circulation, one for organizations to sign; and the other for individuals. Persons may sign both individually and for the organizations you represent on the right page. Please copy and circulate the appropriate page. Enclosed below is a letter from my lawyer explaining what you are signing. If you desire a final copy of the brief, please send me an email. If you are willing to circulate the signature page at your church Sunday, it would be very helpful and persuasive to Ohio's highest court. We are also collecting signatures from NOON until 2 PM, this Saturday, February 27 at New Prospect Baptist Church, 1580 Summit Road in Roselawn.The "People's" brief is due Monday, February 29 at the Ohio Supreme Court. HunterINTRODUCTION This brief is filed in support of Judge Hunter's memorandum in support of jurisdiction on behalf of Amici Curiae the Cincinnati Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ("NAACP"), The Greater Cincinnati Urban League, other undersigned civil rights organizations, civic organizations, child-advocacy organizations, Christian, Jewish, Ecumenical and other Faith-Based organizations, and individuals who are leaders in the African American community, advocates for justice, and/or persons of faith. Collectively, these community leaders write to show the Court the great importance and community interest in this Court accepting Judge Hunter's Appeal. The historical prosecution of Hamilton County's only African American Juvenile Court Judge, Judge Tracie M. Hunter, has shaken many African American citizens' faith in Ohio's justice system. For this reason it is imperative that this honorable Court accept jurisdiction of Judge Hunter's appeal. Accepting her appeal, in order to give careful consideration to the constitutional and important issues raised, would serve a greater goal: it would help to restore public trust in a justice system that has, in the eyes of Amici, treated Judge Hunter unfairly. As Amici explain herein, they have perceived the government's actions against Judge Hunter to be a modern day Witch Hunt, designed to remove her from the bench after she fought for 18 months just to have all the votes counted so the true will of the voters would be known. After the votes were counted, Judge Hunter had to fight for another 18 months the attempts to disrespect her judicial competence. When that did not dissuade her from doing her job, 10 felony charges were filed against her, 9 of which were eventually dismissed. These charges were filed for one purpose: to remove her from the bench. The Special Prosecutor admitted this in closing argument. This tactic worked, because she has not been on the bench for over two years. The only remaining charge is a tenuous one involving an allegation of securing a public contract. Amici respectfully requests that this Court review this single conviction, not only to correct the errors at trial, but more importantly, to restoring Amici's, and the communities', confidence in our
