Transcript of America's restaurant recipes
Ron Douglas reveals the secret recipes from America’s restaurants— The
Cheesecake Factory™, The Olive Garden™, P.F. Chang’s™, Red Lobster™, and
many more—and shows readers how to make them at home for a fraction of the
price.
The average American family eats out three or more times per week, which
translates into hundreds of dollars spent on food each month. In these hard
economic times, families simply can’t afford to keep paying these high prices. And
Ron Douglas has spent the past five years of his life ensuring that we won’t have
to.
With the help of a test kitchen and more than 45,000 tasters, he uncovered the
carefully guarded recipes of the most popular meals at restaurants across the
country.
With his easy-to-follow steps, families can now enjoy the meals they love most at a
price they can actually afford. KFC’s Famous Fried Chicken, Chili’s Southwest
Chicken Chili, Olive Garden’s Breadsticks, and Cheesecake Factory’s Oreo
Cheesecake are just a few of the many famous and delicious recipes included. And
because each recipe has been tested by Ron’s incredible network of tens of
thousands of testers, they are indistinguishable from the originals. These best-kept
secrets can save you thousands of dollars a year and will put delicious meals on the
table that the whole family will enjoy.
I guess this may be the book that "started it all" in regard to recipe cloning. It was
okay. We use the Wendy's chili recipe often and I'd like to try pressure cooking
chicken like Chick-Fil-A, but what gives it a 2 instead of 3 star rating is that there
were more than enough hamburger recipes that didn't seem all that different, other
than how each restaurant stacks the items on the bun.

"I was in the restaurant field for close to 4 years, and I know that everything is pre
-made, boxed, bagged, and full of blubber, ready to be assembled. I love that I get
the same great flavor, without the excess fat and preservatives. It's healthy, full of
flavor, and I already have all of the ingredients in my kitchen."
At Harvey restaurants, fast food met slow food. The brevity of the train stops
meant that the eats had to be made fast; cooks cranked out gourmet meals in
minutes. Menus featured eccentric mixes spanning the gastronomic spectrum from
haute cuisine to classic diner food, democratizing mealtime. Even the creators of
the atomic bomb--Robert Oppenheimer and other members of the Manhattan
Project--enjoyed celebratory Fred Harvey food after successful test detonations.
Each week, I would try to clone a new restaurant recipe and share the results with
my members. Needless to say, I became a regular at many of the restaurants and
was on a first-name basis with a lot of the servers.
I got this cookbook as Christmas gifts, but after looking at the recipes, decided to
get it for us. Love the recipe for Starbucks Pumpkin Scones, IHOP griddle cakes,
and more. Great way to enjoy some of those favorite restaurant food cravings from
home.

P.F. Chang's wouldn't spill the secret recipe for its most popular dish, Chicken
Lettuce Wraps, so the chefs at Food Network Kitchens created this spot-on
knockoff. Serve the rice noodles separate from the lettuce leaves and for guests to
wrap themselves — just like at the restaurant.
Eating out is typically more expensive than preparing a home-cooked meal because
restaurants have to price their food to pay high overhead expenses such as salaries
to chefs, managers, and servers, and rent and advertising. By making these dishes
at home, you can cut out all the excess costs and prepare each meal to your liking.

For years, Domino's customers made one consistent request: more cheese on the
cheesy breadsticks. But Domino's execs were stumped. How could they add cheese
to a dish that was already covered from corner to corner with mozzarella and
cheddar? In 2011, they solved the problem by putting cheese inside the
breadsticks. Try this perfect copy from Food Network Kitchens.
