Who am I? Professor Jim Davis, P.E. Lead instructor and program
coordinator of the ABET-accredited Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) program at Zane State College

Zane State College Small two-year technical college
Approximately 2500 students1/20 size of The Ohio State Univ.
Located in Zanesville, Ohio About one hour to the east Population about 30,000
Ohio State has over 50,000 students

The challenge?
Enrollments in engineering technology in Ohio: Down for the past decade
Enrollment in the EET program at Zane State: Up each year for the past decade
How did it happen? Produce a product that employers, such
as AEP, want Actively involve employers on advisory
committee Network, network, network… Provide graduates with skills employers
want Develop a curriculum of courses aligned
with employer needs
Then what? Promote, promote, promote
Visit high schools Talk to teachers and counselors Talk to parents and students
Open door policy Success breeds success
Place quality graduates in well-paying jobs
With your company

Better yet, mentor a student Bring real-world principles to the classroom Volunteer at job fairs Come to our job fair
