CANTON: Crescent moon with Liberty inside

Commanded by Colonel William Moultrie in South Carolina in 1776. This was the first flag to ever be flown in the Southern States and would become the flag of the Minute Men in 1800. The crescent moon is so symbolic to those in South Carolina, that it is still featured on their state flag today.
