The American Classroom Program is a unique opportunity to improve your language abilities while also taking credit-bearing courses at Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies. The program goes far beyond traditional ESL courses. It offers you a comprehensive academic and cultural experience that gives you an excellent start on your undergraduate or graduatedegree—and prepares you for success both in and out of the classroom.
As you gain the fluency you need to be fully comfortable in a U.S. university, you will also be practicing your language and social skills in real academiccourses—all in a supportive, international-friendly environment.
The American Classroom experience includes:
• Advanced English language training to meet university language proficiency requirements.

You may enter the program at whatever level your language test allows and then progressthrough each phase in sequence. Successful completion of Phase 3 allows you to waivethe TOEFL language test requirement for admission to a degree program at the College of Professional Studies.

For a highly-motivated individual, it’s a wonderful opportunity to quickly jump right into the flow of American college life—and to share your university experience with thousands of fellow Northeastern University students!
This one-of-a-kind program also features:
• Three different starting levels, depending on your language proficiency
• Three semesters offered each year
• Specialized classes to develop skills to help you succeed in a U.S. university environment
• Up to three credit-bearing academic courses at the College of Professional Studies
• Academic advisors to help with the university application process
When you have successfully completed the American Classroom Program, you will be ready to pursue your undergraduate or graduate degree. Of course, we hope you will choose to continueyour studies at Northeastern University. But if you return home or enroll in another college or university, all of the benefits of theprogram are still yours: improved language fluency, an introductionto life on an American campus, and course credits. And dependingon your future degree program and level of study, those credits may be transferable.
