President Roosevelt declared the U.S. neutral and Prime Minister Churchill also watched without action during the initial year of WWII. After France fell to the Nazis, Roosevelt and Churchill formed an alliance to save Great Britain at all costs. Political manipulation on both sides led to a mutually complicated war effort.

Effects of WWII WWII brought an end to the Great Depression

worldwide and reinvented the U.S. as the world’s policeman. WWII devastated all of the European Western empires, started a cold war between communist and anticommunist countries, and Japan emerged as the world’s super power. With hatred toward Americans, the Japanese decided to flex their muscle and attack the U.S. on our own soil in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This caused Americans to have a general hatred of anything and anyone Japanese regardless of whether they agreed with their leaders or not. Racial prejudice against the Japanese people was instant and has had lingering effects for years.
