The West

Indian Societies Under Siege in the United States and Canada
The Indians considered the white man an invader and fought long and hard to keep the land that they have lived on for decades.
Canada pushed their Indians farther west. Some tribes fought while others tried to
work with the Canadian government. The end of the nineteenth centaury
incorporated the Indians into being a productive part of the Canadian economy.

One town in the US northwest developed from a railroad community and one town in Central Asia developed by the Soviet Union as a prison town.
The author considers communism and capitalism as parallel ideologies and both countries followed similar paths in development and destruction.
