Recharge Rates: This is what we heard:

• The 10 year rolling average recharge rates don’t reflect the

groundwater trends

• It’s not clear how the recharge rates under the previous WAP were

calculated

• The recharge rates should be recalculated

Recharge Rates: This is what we did:

• Recalculated the recharge rates for the different lenses and brackish

areas (except Uley South which used the RR from Ordens et al. which is based on

multiple lines of evidence)

• Based it upon the 2008 water level rise – which corresponds to

lowest storage in past 12 years (low rainfall year)

Uley South: This is what we heard:

• The portion of the resource set aside to the environment is too little

(30%)

• The environment should get at least 60% of the resource capacity

• The environment is missing out

Uley South: This is what we did:

• Commissioned Flinders University to run some scenarios on the Uley

South model to determine the impacts of various portions going to

the environment

Uley South: The amendment

• The portion of the resource set aside to the environment in Uley

South has been varied from 30% to 48.5%

Polda: This is what we heard:

• SA Water shouldn’t be allowed to pump from Polda

• No more water should be taken from Polda

• Licensees want access to water (draft WAP – current storage is below the

lower storage trigger)

Polda: This is what we did:

• SA Water voluntarily relinquished their licence for Polda, Polda

North and Kappawanta

• Restricted new users coming into the area leaving only 10 ML of

excess water

• Allowed users to extract half their WAE at current storage levels

Polda: The amendment

• Reserved the Polda consumptive pool for Irrigation, Industrial or

Recreational uses only

• Increased the portion of water to the environment to 97.6%

• Varied the lower storage trigger from 99% to 68%
