Summary of Work Project No. CCR-17-5390 01010-1

SECTION 01010 - SUMMARY OF WORK PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS As specified in SECTION 01001-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1.02 SUMMARY OF PROJECT A. The work to be done shall include performing all operations and

furnishing all equipment, fixtures, appliances, tools, materials, and labor necessary to execute, complete, and deliver all of the work and related items required for the project as called for on the drawings and as hereinafter specified.

B. The project site is University of Hawaii Maui College: 2252 Ka’a’ike, 310 Kaahumanu Ave. Kahului, HI. C. The project shall in general consist of but not limited to selective

demolition and construction related to the interior renovation of an existing classroom consisting but not limited to: treated rough carpentry, finish carpentry, interior insulation, gypsum board, acoustical ceilings, floor finishes, acoustically tested doors and hardware, wood doors, wood windows with specified glazing, painting, electrical fixtures and wiring, air conditioning rerouting and new equipment installation and balancing, audio-visual work.

D. Contractor shall visit the job site and make certain that he understands

the extent of the work and existing job conditions before he submits a formal bid.

1.03 CODES AND ORDINANCES The Contractor shall comply with all Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances,

rules, and regulations pertaining to the project and shall obtain and pay for all permits, licenses, and certificates and publish or post all notices required.

1.04 SCHEDULING AND COORDINATION A. The premises will be occupied by the faculty, staff, and students of the

University of Hawai‘i Maui College.

appearance, finish and successful operation, assuming joint responsibility of the materials and installation with the Contractor.

B. Inform the University five (5) working days minimum before performing an

operational testing so that it can be witnessed. 3.04 ADJUSTING A. Adjust hardware for smooth operation. 3.05 ACCEPTANCE A. Demonstrate to the University Representative and the Architect that each

lock functions properly as intended, and together with both inspect each lock. Adjust or replace each hardware item not properly functioning at no additional cost to the State.

B. Inspect each other hardware item and demonstrate to the University

SECTION 08715 - HIGH SECURITY KEYING SYSTEM PART 1 -GENERAL 1.01 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

A. As specified in GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Section 01001.

1.02 SUMMARY A. Provide all materials, labor, equipment, and tools necessary for high security cylinders

(see Hardware Groups in Section 08710 - FINISH HARDWARE) and keys for all locksets, to match the Maui Community College Campus key system - Best Cormax high-security key system.

B. Related Work Described Elsewhere: Section 08710 - FINISH HARDWARE for locksets, construction cylinders and construction keys.

1.03 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit in accordance with Section 01300 - SUBMITTALS. B. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's descriptive data for verification purposes. C. Keying Schedule: Keying of locks shall be as indicated on a University of Hawaii Key

Schedule form submitted by the supplier with information obtained from the University of Hawaii Community Colleges, Facilities & Environmental Health Office. Door designations shall be the same as those used on drawings and hardware schedule.

D. Project Record Documents: Record of actual door locations of installed cylinders and their master key codes for submittal to the University.

1.04 DELIVERY

A. Delivery: Coordinate delivery to appropriate locations (shop or field). Permanent keys and cores to be installed by Contractor and accepted by the University.

B. Acceptance at Site: Items individually packaged in manufacturers' original containers, complete with proper fasteners and related pieces. Clearly mark packages to indicate content, locations in hardware schedule and door numbers.

C. Storage: Provide securely locked storage area for hardware, protect from moisture, sunlight, paint, chemicals, dust, excessive heat and cold, etc.

1.05 REPRESENTATIVE

A. Provide services of a qualified hardware specialist who is familiar with installation and operation of Campus Best Cormax high security key system. Representative shall be available for meetings with University of Hawaii Representatives and Contractor, to establish keying system.

PART 2 -PRODUCTS 2.01 CYLINDERS AND KEYING

A. Manufacturer:

1. Scheduled Manufacturer: Best Cormax, No Substitute. B. Requirements: Provide cylinders/cores complying with the following

requirements. 1. Cylinders/cores compliant with ANSl/BHMA A 156.5; latest revision,

Section 12, Grade 1; permanent cylinders; cylinder face finished to match lockset, manufacturer's series as indicated.

a. High Security: Best Cormax cylinder, high security, dual-locking cylinder with permanent interchangeable core requiring distributor exclusive, restricted, patented keyway.

2. Keying:

a. Manufacturer-keyed permanent cylinders/cores, configured into campus keying system.

b. Permanent Keys: Quantity 6 ea. 3. Features: Cylinders/cores shall incorporate the following features.

a. Patent Protection: Cylinders/cores requiring use of restricted, patented keys, patent-protected until the year, 2029.

4. Identification:

a. Mark permanent cylinders/cores and keys with applicable blind code per DHI publication "Keying Systems and Nomenclature" for identification. Blind code marks shall not include actual key cuts.

b. Identification stamping provisions must be approved by the Architect and University.

c. Failure to comply with stamping requirements shall be cause for replacement of cylinders/cores involved at no additional cost to the University.

PART 3 -EXECUTION 3.01 PRE-INSTALLATION MEETING

A. Call for a "pre-installation" meeting between Contractor, hardware installer, and hardware manufacturer's representative or supplier or competent hardware specialist, the Architect, and the University to review the hardware installation instructions and installation conditions.

3.02 INSTALLATION, GENERAL

A. Remove temporary construction cylinders/cores. B. Install permanent cylinders/cores in compliance with the manufacturer’s

instructions and recommendations.

3.03 CYLINDER SUPPLIER'S INSPECTION A. Verify the installation and operation of the hardware and cylinders/keys to final

acceptance. B. All keys cut for the project shall be tested to ensure proper operation with a

designated University representative present during testing. C. After all required permanent keys have been tested in cylinders to ensure proper

operation, keys shall be delivered to the designated University representative. D. Instruct the University's staff on the cylinders maintenance procedures (type of

lubricant needed and frequency of maintenance).

1. GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS AND ANY DISCREPANCIES AND CONFLICTS SHALL BE RESOLVED PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK.

2. THE CONTRACT DOCUMENT DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE COMPLIMENTARY AND PROVIDE DESIGN INTENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT. THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS MAY NOT INCLUDE EVERY DETAIL OR CONSTRUCTION CONDITION AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A COMPLETED STRUCTURE WITHIN THE BASIC SCOPE AND BUDGET OF THE PROJECT.

3. ANY DISCREPANCIES OR OMISSIONS IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ARCHITECT.

4. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE PLANNING AND BUILDING CODES, LOCAL AMENDMENTS AND ORDINANCES, ADAAG AND OTHER APPLICABLE REGULATIONS.

5. THE ADAAG 2010 REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES SHALL APPLY TO THIS PROJECT.

6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING APPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO COMPLY WITH NOISE AND DUST CONTROL, SITE RUN-OFF OF WATER, OIL, CHEMICALS, ETC. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SUCH AS ASBESTOS, LEAD, FUEL, ETC. SHALL BE REMOVED PER ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS.

7. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SAFETY MEASURES TO ENSURE PROTECTION OF CONSTRUCTION PERSONNEL AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH PROPER BARRICADES, SIGNAGE, GATES, OVERHEAD AND FALL PROTECTION, AND FIRE PROTECTION. PROPER TRAINING PER OSHA SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL WORKERS ON SITE.

8. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A CLEAN AND ORDERLY WORK SITE AND WASTE MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE PROJECT SITE IN A TIMELY MANNER.

9. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TIMELY COORDINATION OF THE WORK AMONG ALL TRADES AND MATERIAL SUPPLIERS TO AVOID CONFLICTS AND DELAYS IN THE PROJECT CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE.

10. ALL DRAWING DIMENSIONS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH ACTUAL FIELD MEASUREMENTS BY THE CONTRACTOR AND SUBCONTRACTORS. NO SCALING OF DRAWINGS.

A. PERIODIC INCREASES OF MINIMUM WAGES FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS Section 104-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, provides that laborers and mechanics employed on State construction contracts exceeding $2,000 shall be entitled to any increases in prevailing wage rates as determined by the Director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR), and as published in the wage rate bulletins, regardless of the prevailing wage rates in effect at the time of contracting. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to keep current of all changes to the prevailing wage rates. Pursuant to Section 12-22-6 (1), Hawaii Administrative Rules, the Apprentice Schedule is applicable only to apprentices who are parties to apprenticeship agreements registered with or recognized by the DLIR. Wage rate bulletins are issued periodically by the Research and Statistics Office, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and may be found at: http://labor.hawaii.gov/rs/home/wages/72-2/. 1. GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS AND ANY DISCREPANCIES AND CONFLICTS SHALL BE RESOLVED PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK.

2. THE CONTRACT DOCUMENT DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE COMPLIMENTARY AND PROVIDE DESIGN INTENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT. THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS MAY NOT INCLUDE EVERY DETAIL OR CONSTRUCTION CONDITION AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A COMPLETED STRUCTURE WITHIN THE BASIC SCOPE AND BUDGET OF THE PROJECT.

3. ANY DISCREPANCIES OR OMISSIONS IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ARCHITECT.

4. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE PLANNING AND BUILDING CODES, LOCAL AMENDMENTS AND ORDINANCES, ADAAG AND OTHER APPLICABLE REGULATIONS.

5. THE ADAAG 2010 REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES SHALL APPLY TO THIS PROJECT.

6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING APPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO COMPLY WITH NOISE AND DUST CONTROL, SITE RUN-OFF OF WATER, OIL, CHEMICALS, ETC. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SUCH AS ASBESTOS, LEAD, FUEL, ETC. SHALL BE REMOVED PER ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS.

7. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SAFETY MEASURES TO ENSURE PROTECTION OF CONSTRUCTION PERSONNEL AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH PROPER BARRICADES, SIGNAGE, GATES, OVERHEAD AND FALL PROTECTION, AND FIRE PROTECTION. PROPER TRAINING PER OSHA SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL WORKERS ON SITE.

8. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A CLEAN AND ORDERLY WORK SITE AND WASTE MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE PROJECT SITE IN A TIMELY MANNER.

9. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TIMELY COORDINATION OF THE WORK AMONG ALL TRADES AND MATERIAL SUPPLIERS TO AVOID CONFLICTS AND DELAYS IN THE PROJECT CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE.
