Purpose: To extend the period during which the Secretary

of State is required to submit an annual report to Con-

gress on the status of post-earthquake recovery and

development efforts in Haiti and to expand the scope

of the report to include a determination about the fair-

ness of Haitian elections.

(a) REAUTHORIZATION.—Section 5(a) of the Assess-7

ing Progress in Haiti Act of 2014 (22 U.S.C. 2151 note) 8

is amended by striking ‘‘December 31, 2017’’ and insert-1

ing ‘‘December 31, 2022’’. 2

(b) REPORT.—Section 5(b) of the Assessing Progress 3

in Haiti Act of 2014 (22 U.S.C. 2151 note) is amended— 4

(1) in paragraph (12), by striking ‘‘and’’ at the 5

end; 6

(2) in paragraph (13), by striking the period at 7

the end and inserting a semicolon; and 8

(3) by adding at the end the following: 9

‘‘(14) a determination of whether recent Hai-10

tian elections are free, fair and responsive to the 11

people of Haiti; and 12

‘‘(15) a description of any attempts to dis-13

qualify candidates for political officers in Haiti for 14

political reasons.’’. 15
