A The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will release the results of individuals at the relevant centres where candidates wrote their examinations on Tuesday, 23 February 2021 at 12:00.

A Results to be collected at the examination writing centres schools only.

A Closing date for re-marking and rechecking: 10 March 2021

A Closing date for online registration of the ASC examination: 28 February 2021.

A Closing date for registration for NSC June supplementary examination: 31 March 2021. (Application forms will be available at writing venues/CLCs and on the WCED website: https://wcedonline.westerncape.gov.za)

A ASC examination certificates will be posted to candidates via registered mail: July 2021.

CHECK YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS ON THE ASC RESULTS AND REQUEST CORRECTION OF DETAILS WITHIN 21 DAYS AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE RESULTS.

A Ensure that all names as per the identity document are included on the statement of results.

A Check that the name(s) and surname are spelled correctly

A Check that the correct date of birth/identity number is printed on the results

A Please note: Administrative errors like these can be rectified within three months after the results have been released

If there are any errors on the results, contact Head Office with the following documents:(a) The current statement of results(b) A certified copy of the identity document(c) An affidavit, declaring that you are the rightful

owner of the statement of results(d) Specify the error to be rectified(e) Complete the reissuing application form

Re-marking/Rechecking of scripts

Who qualifies?A Candidates may apply for the rechecking or re-marking

of their scripts if they feel that the marks allocated on the written papers are not a true reflection of their performance.

A A re-mark means that the original answer script is marked for a second time by a marker.

A A recheck of your script is a further check to ensure that all questions are duly marked and that all marks are correctly calculated.

AWhat is an application for a viewing? Once you have received your results, AFTER rechecking and re-marking, you may apply to view your answer scripts. Apply to Nompumelelo.Kanase@westerncape.gov.za with proof of payment to view your answer scripts.

Please note: Candidates who apply for re-marking/rechecking are advised to register for the supplementary examination in case there is no improvement in their results.

ASC EXAMINATION PASS REQUIREMENTSThere are four pass levels:1. Higher certificate2. Diploma3. Bachelor’s degree pass (previously known as an

exemption)

The matric pass requirements for each of these levels are as follows:Higher certificate pass requirements

A Must obtain at least 40% in your Home Language A Must obtain at least 40% in two subjects A Must obtain at least 30% in two other subjects A Must pass at least one subject by 20% A Must pass five out of six subjects

Diploma pass requirements A Must obtain at least 40% in your Home Language A Must obtain at least 40% in three other subjects, excluding Life Orientation A Must pass at least five out of six subjects

With this pass requirement, you can apply to study for a diploma at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college or university of technology.

Bachelor’s degree pass requirements A Must obtain at least 40% in your Home Language A Must obtain at least 50% in four subjects, excluding Life Orientation A Must pass at least five out of six subjects

Please note: Old Senior Certificates credits will be utilised if combination is required.

NB: All subjects, excluding Life Orientation, will be taken into consideration for the Diploma/Bachelor’s

degree pass requirements.

Candidates who failed to achieve a Diploma or Bachelor’s pass status in their current examination sitting, can improve their pass status if they register and write the ASC exami-nation of May/June 2021.

With achieving a Bachelor’s degree pass status, you can apply to study towards a degree at a university, university of technology, TVET college or any accredited higher learn-ing institution.

Which subjects are compulsory? A Home Language A First Additional Language

You have to offer your language of learning and teaching (either English or Afrikaans) as one of your language subjects.School-based assessment marks are not considered for this examination.

The June 2021 ASC examination is open to all candidates who passed Grade 9/Adult Education and Training Level 4, failed their matric and are 21 years and older. Underage candidates (18–20 years) must write a motivation to the Head of Department and give reasons why they should be allowed to write the ASC examinations.
