Woodworks is designed to be an information exchange and dialogue between the Garrison and the Fort Leonard Wood community on a range of topics and interests.

The intent is to gain a better understanding of community issues, share information, upcoming events, and network to improve quality of life for service members, families, civilians and retirees.

For Awareness• Harper Medical Facility’s primary mission is for COVID

Screening and testing • This includes testing for those considered close contacts

or who have had occupational exposure.• Individuals experiencing symptoms and requiring medical

evaluation are encouraged to go their primary care physician, the Acute Minor Illness Clinic (AMIC), or emergency department, as applicable.

Community Interest- GLWACH offers primary care (face to face and virtual) and

specialty outpatient care services in the following:- Family Practice -Orthopedics/Podiatry- Internal Medicine -OB/GYN- Pediatrics -General Surgery- Behavioral Health -Army Wellness Center- Optometry- Audiology- Physical Therapy- Occupational Therapy- Chiropractic Services

- The Acute Minor Illness Clinic is available 1000-2200, 7 days a week for acute illnesses. Emergency Department and In-Patient services are available 24/7.

In the Works• Transition to new Electronic Health Record (MHS

Genesis)• Go Live date is 24 APR 2021• Roll out will decrease appointment availability by 40% for

30 days after Go-Live.• Expected streamlined documentation and improved

patient experience.

Challenges/Initiatives • COVID Vaccination continues

– Currently vaccinating Phase 1 individuals, looking to move into Phase 2 (which includes the healthy population) in February 2021.

• Phase 2 Prioritization:

• Workforce (key and essential)

• Workforce (all others, MIL and CIV)

• Dependents

• Beneficiaries

• Workforce Contractors

– We expect to continue to receive vaccination in order to complete both doses for all of those who volunteer to receive the vaccine.

Challenges/Initiatives • Winter and Spring maintenance

– Frozen pipes, ensure hoses are disconnected– Set thermostat to auto not run– Remember during bad weather to keep streets clear for

snow removal.

For Awareness• Fort Leonard Wood Communities is still in COVID

protective posture • No contact lease, move in or move outs.• Community centers are still closed• If you have a work order communicate any concerns with

work order desk during scheduling.

Community Interest• Mayor program

• Currently taking applications for interested residents to become a community mayor.

• Applications will be taken until 1700 on 7 Feb.• Elections will being on 8 Feb and run until end of day on

19 Feb• Mayors will be trained and introduced by the Garrison

Commander at the Town Hall on 11 March.

family homes on FLW.

1) Home Based Business Process

• FY20 was a transioning year for the Home Based Business from the Housing Division to DFMWR with Garrison remaining the approving official.

• The Army has a new standardized HBB application that includes obtaining approval from installation agencies like Housing, Balfour Beatty, AAFES, JAG before the application goes for final approval.

• The development and the year were not without challenges – however a policy has been written to streamline the process.

• The HBB owner is responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions, applicable licenses, and liability insurance. The HBB owner is also responsible for any damages to third parties arising from the conduct of the business.
