2.2 Installation of the detection loopa Cut t e s ots in t e trac a maximum o 2 cm 3 4

deep and 60 cm (2 ft) apart. Make sure the slots areclean and dry. This will ensure a perfect sealw en t e si icon is app ie a ter t e insta ation o t ewiring. Put t e wires o t e etection oop in t e s otsan cut t e excess engt o t e etection oop wires.Wi en t e s ot wit a c ise w ere t e smaconnection ox o t e oop is to e insta e . P ace t econnection box vertically. Before sealing the loopwith silicone, please test the loop as describedn sect on . .

Fill the slot with silicone. Note: before doing this,please test the loop as described in the section 2.3.Be sure not to over t e s ots an t at t e si icone is

stores; it is important t at t e rig t type is use . Si icone

t at can wit stan i erent temperatures as we as ot wet

an ry con itions since weat er situations can vary s ou

be used. If you are unsure, check the speci cations of the

si icone.

The following types of silicone have been shown to yieldlasting results and are recommended by AMB:

• Dow Corning 890SL is a self-leveling silicone kit. It isapp ie as a iqui an s t e s ot comp ete y.

2.3 Testing detection loop installation

Once the loop has been installed, it should be tested to ensuret at it is unctioning correct y. We a so recommen repeatingt e same proce ure at t e start o eac race event. You canetermine i your oop is unctioning correct y y oing t eo owing tests:

a Connect t e etection oop to t e eco er ancomputer running AMB i.t. timing software (alsosee section 4.1 Insta ation o t e TranX eco er .C ec t e ac groun noise, w ic is up ate every5 secon s in t e AMB i.t. timing so tware. T eac groun noise eve s ou e etween 0 an

40 points. A ig er va ue may in icateinterference by other electrical equipmentin the area or a bad loop installation. Try switchingo any suspecte equipment orremoving near y o jects an c ecor improvements. S ort-wave ra io transmitters maycause an increase ac groun noise, especia y atnig t.

Transpon ers can e c arge y using an in ivi uatransponder charging cradle or by means of the 32-positiontransponder charger case.
