    A word from the founder

    Its Black History Month,

    a time designated to

celebrate incredible peopleof color in our history. Most

    common you hear stories of

    Martin Luther King, Nelson

    Mandela, Rosa Parks and

    Malcolm X, even though

    there are hosts of black

    people that have helped to

    shape the world that should

    be honored always.

    Its amazing that we still

live in a world that finds it

necessary to decolorize its history. If it were not for the

presence of people of color, the world would not be as

    advanced as it is today.

This month and every month that follows, I would like you

to embrace those that dont look like you. Understand that

although we have different skin color, we are all connected.

We all have the same spirit residing in us and when wehate another, we hate ourselves. When we disrespect

another, we disrespect ourselves. When another one fails,

    we all ultimately fail.

Remember, we all belong to the same race - the human

race and until our collective consciousness changes and

we truly love our neighbors as ourselves, we will continue

to see war, poverty, disease and disaster and we will never

become the great nation intended by the Creator.

Everyone wants to see the world get better. It all starts

with you and me! Be the change you wish to see in the

    world.

    Make it Amazing.

    Ella Baker Civil rights and

    human rights activist whose

    career spanned 5 decades.

The major job was getting people to

    understand that they had something

within their power that they could use, and

it could only be used if they understood

what was happening and how group

    action could counter violence

    Funmilayo Ransome Kuti- was

    a teacher, political campaigner,

    womens rights activist and

    traditional aristocrat. Her

    activism led to her being

    described as the doyen of

female rights in Nigeria, as well

as to her being regarded as

    The Mother of Africa.

    Septima Poinsette Clark

    - was an American educator

    and civil rights activist. Clark

developed the literacy andcitizenship workshops that

played an important role in the

drive for voting rights and civil

    rights for African Americans

    in the American Civil Rights

    Movement.

    Diane Nash- Her efforts included

    the first successful civil rights

    campaign to de-segregate lunch

    counters, the Freedom riders, who

    de-segregated interstate travel;

    founding the Student Nonviolent

    Coordinating Committee (SNCC);

    and the Selma Voting Rights

    Movement campaign, which

    resulted in African Americans

    getting the vote and political

    power throughout the South.

    Yaa Asantewa - was appointed

queen mother of Ejisu in the

    Ashanti Empirenow part of

    modern-day Ghana. In 1900 she

    led the Ashanti rebellion known

as the War of the Golden Stool

    against British colonialism.

No member of the union should think

herself better than the others. All must

    move freely and happy together.

I have a great belief in the fact that

whenever there is chaos, it creates wonderful

thinking. I consider chaos a gift.

This will be a black baby born in Mississippi,

and thus where ever he is born he will be

in prison ... If I go to jail now it may help

hasten that day when my child and all

    children will be free.

Now I see that some of you fear to go forward

to fight for our king. If it were in the brave days

of Osei Tutu, Okomfo Anokye, and Opoku

Ware, chiefs would not sit down to see theirking to be taken away without firing a shot.

No European could have dared speak to chiefs

of Asante in the way the governor spoke to

you this morning. Is it true that the bravery

of Asante is no more? I cannot believe it. It

cannot be! I must say this: if you, the men of

Asante, will not go forward, then we will. We,

the women, will. I shall call upon my fellow

women. We will fight the white men. We will

fight till the last of us falls in the battlefields.

I am an example of what is possible when

girls from the very beginning of their lives

are loved and nurtured by people around

them. I was surrounded by extraordinary

women in my life who taught me about

    quiet strength and dignity.

    Without community service, we

would not have a strong quality of

life. Its important to the person who

serves as well as the recipient. Its the

way in which we ourselves grow and

    develop.

Girls are the future mothers of our

society, and it is important that we

    focus on their well-being.

    Now more than ever,

    women MUST be

    financially independent.

In so many areas of their lives,

    women have given up their

    power. One major way that

    women give away their power

    is by not being financially

    independent. As a result,

women stay in dysfunctionalrelationships, work jobs that

    they would not ordinarily

    work and therefore controlled

by someone else. It may be

a spouse, a parent, or the

    government but someone else

    is dictating how she lives.

    Understand that being

    financially independentdoesnt mean having a

    lot of money. It means

    being in control of the

    money you do have.

    Lets face it; there

    are tons of

    reasons for your

    circumstance-

    reasons whyand how you

a stroke just as I left, changed

the woman who I am today

    emotionally and spiritually and

I knew then and now that God

    will never ever forsake me.

As we live life, we are all facedwith challenges, which are

    designed to teach us some

    important lessons. When

    we miss the lessons, we

    are doomed to repeat the

    challenges until finally one day

we see the light and are pulled

    from darkness.

Its important to pay closeattention to the messages and

lessons, for in them is where we

    learn whats needed, where we

    find our strength, support and

faith. Its all part of the master

    plan. Anything that hurts us

can teach us something. If it

    keeps hurting, that means we

    havent learned the lesson.

    Bakhwi saw the light and

    learned some very powerful

    lessons.

    She learned the lesson of

    unconditional love, taught

to her by her children. They

    showed their unconditional

love for her; with or without

the disability, they proved sheis the same mother she was

yesterday as she is today and

they love and cherish her the

    same.

She also learned that is was

those closest to her that would

walk with her and help her

    to overcome the challenges.

It was her children and familythat stuck by her through the

    painful times of abuse. They

    helped her through all the

    mental and physical challenges

    of being paralyzed by stroke.

    Bakhwi learned that what we

deem as a struggle can changeyour life and increase your

    spiritual awareness and faith.

She has gained the ability to

stand up for what she believes

and to have hope and faith

in all she does. After all, it is

hope and faith that allows us

    to keep walking through the

    valley of darkness, when we

cant see the enemy lurking, feeling confident and sure that

we will come out on the other

    side victorious.

    Contrary to what society

    displays, Bakhwi has learned

    that real beauty comes from

    within and real men are

    attracted to real beauty as

proven by the man she intendsto marry this year. A man who

loves her for who she is, despite

of and because of her history

    and her disability.

    She has learned that real

    men dont abuse women and

    advises any woman in an

    abusive relationship to get

out as quickly as possible. Itwont get better, it will only get

    worse!

    Through her journey, Bakhwi

    learned just how powerful and

special she truly is. How she

    was given this incredible gift

    and the importance of sharing

    that gift with the world.

She now uses her talents and

    gifts to influence and impact

the lives of others. She hopes

that women look at her and

    are inspired to support one

    another so we can overcome

    lifes challenges together. She

hopes men look at her andunderstand that women are

    their backbones and should be

    treated with love and respect

    at all times.

    She has become an advocate

    for abuse and stroke survivors

    and provides a wealth of

    knowledge on prevention

through her Botswana StrokeCampaign and Touch a Life

    Wazha Centre in Ramotswa

    Village. She travels Botswana

    to speak to women about

    abuse and educate people

about stroke, which is the #2

    killer in her country.

    She is an entrepreneur;

successfully managing twodaycare centers and lives with

    her two daughters, ages 17

    and 13.

    Although she still experiences

    physical pain, she never stops

striving to be the best she

can be. She realizes the pain

    and disability are reminders

of what she has overcome beauty marks if you will, of

    an incredible journey to

    freedom.

My life now is just worshiping

God. It keeps me happy, hopeful,

    and just relaxed. Im nothing

    without worshiping God -

    without him Im nothing.

    hats Love Got To Do

    With It? A well-known

phrase turned movietitle, which detailed the life of Tina

Turner. A GREAT MOVIE! A must

    see!

I am sure you have heard the

    phrase and probably posed the

question to someone else or to

yourself in the past. Well, Whats

Love Got To Do With It?

    EVERYTHING!!!

In the movie you witness a small

town girl with a giant voice fall in

love and become a superstar! A

    dream come true right?

While it was a dream come true,

    there were plenty nightmares

along the way? Why? The lack oflove, the misunderstanding of

love and the love of all the wrong

    things.

Again, I ask you, Whats Love Got

    To Do With It?

    Everything!

Love kept Tina Turner in an abusiverelationship she loved Ike and

didnt want to walk out on him.

The love of drugs, money and fame

by Ike, turned him into a insecure,

    egotistical, abusive man addicted

to drugs who lost everything and

    spent time in prison.

The lack of self-love allowed forself-sabotaging behavior, the

    inability to love another, addictive

    behavior, pain and misery.

In the end, Tina Turner was able

to walk away from a horrible

situation and rise to an even

bigger fame. As a result of finding

    her spirituality and learning to

love herself FISRT, she was able tochange her life, rebuild and go on

    to live an amazing life.

Take a look at your life. Whats Love

    Got To Do With It?

Here are a few simple tips on using

love to have an amazing life!

love YOU, you can never expect

someone else to. When you truly

    love yourself, you show others

how to treat you. You no longer

accept those things, which are not

    best for you.

share love with others. Open up

and be nice. Give compliments, help a stranger, give a hug, do

    something for someone else

    without expecting anything in

    return.

love for your children and everyone

around you. Let them see you as a

shining example of pure love and

    watch them follow.

    positively impact people in which

you come in contact. Wear a smile

that warms the heart of another.

    Should you have wonderful

    things? Yes, but when having

wonderful things leads you to dobad things to acquire them, you

have broken the #1 rule love

yourself first. Things can always be

    replaced people, your respect,

honor and dignity can never be.

Try these tips for 30 days and enjoy

    the love!
