About Us.Amaquella Ltd specialise in providing students with a once in a lifetime adventures to Peru. Our offering is made up of the stunning Salkantay trek over the course of 5 days ending at Machu Picchu, as well as a selection of incredible add-on opportunities. As part of the experience, Amaquella take students on the longest zip line in the world, an amazing rope swing through the centre of the sacred valley and the opportunity to travel to the highly unique Hucachina to maximise your Peruvian experience.

We are both graduates from Loughborough University. During our time at Loughborough we have experienced all levels of the Raise and Give (RAG) framework, from dealing with adventure companies & multiple charities, notably The Epilepsy Society. Rob and I have both experienced international events as participants, team leaders and tour operators. It is with this knowledge and expertise that we provide a transparent model that puts Amaquella in a prime position within the student adventure travel market.

Experience the trip of a lifetime to the Peruvian Andes, following the infamous paths of the Inca people in search of the hidden city, Machu Picchu. Setting out from the ancient Inca capital, Cusco, you face a true trekking adventure taking in the spectacular setting of this stunningly beautiful country. On route you will be faced with varying terrain from steep ascents and breath-taking mountain passes to humid jungle environments. Your reward shall be a spectacular final day at the most impressive wonder of the world, Machu Picchu.

Over the course of the trek, you will be able to experience first-hand the challenge faced by the threatened Inca people as they aimed to evade the conquering Spanish Conquistadors of the 16th Century. With twisting paths rising high and low across the Andean valleys, this trek is no easy feat, but it is an opportunity to experience a world like no other, with a team you’ll never forget, visiting a place you’ll forever desire to revisit.

OUR PARTNERSOne of our Peruvian partners is the well respected Amazonas Explorer who co-ordinate activities all over Peru. They prioritise safety as a fundamental value and treat all adventurers with the utmost care. Their team of experts provide the ultimate trekking experience, from extensive knowledge, delightful company, unique stories and catering perfection. All members of their team are first aid trained and all guides speak fluent English.

Our second Peruvian partner is Inkayni Peru Tours who are a family business that aim at offering quality touring services based on international standards of tourism. They provide personalised tours to make every experience have that added edge for adventurers. Inkayni is different in that they value the importance of revealing the true historic, cultural and spiritual legacy left by their ancestors. Knowledge of Peruvian culture is at the forefront of what Inkayni advocate and something we feel is fundamentally important to our offering.

Our UK partner co-ordinate our flights to Peru and offer ATOL cover for the entirety of our trips. Nirvana Europe is located in North Shields, ten miles outside of Newcastle, with a full time team of 10 members with advanced expertise who more than meet all our travel requirements. They are also the proud sponsors of The Bupa Great Run Series as evidence of their contribution and commitment to the type of challenge Amaqeulla aims to deliver. They are licensed and bonded by the Civil Aviation Authority which is the founding of the ATOL cover mentioned.

Day10/Day11

Giant Rope Swing.Like nothing else you have ever experienced. This is a once in a lifetime activity, to add to a once in a lifetime trip. This giant rope swing not far from Cusco is a real adrenaline experience not to be missed. After some time to relax since your epic adven-ture, we will pick you up from Cusco, drive you to the rope swing, where you will be given a briefing, before being roped up to one of the largest swings anywhere in the world. Included in this, will be lunch and transport back to Cusco in perfect time for another night on the town if you so wish.

Via Ferrata and Zip Line. The area around Cusco has some of the greatest activities on offer anywhere in the world. And we have picked the very best out for you. Your first activity will be a 400 metre Via Ferrata. Following pick up from your hostel in Cusco you’ll be driven through the stunning scared valley where you will be briefed and then roped up. It’s a simple climb, but the scenery is second to none.

Following your rock climb, you will be provided with a lunch while sat on a ledge of the rock face, an experience not to be missed. From there, there is only one way down and that is the largest set of zip lines in the world. Spanning hundreds of metres across the valley, you will reach speeds in excess of 40 miles an hour on your journey. After a combination of six lines, you will find yourself back on the ground. From there we will deliver you back to Cusco for the evening. This activity will occupy most of your day, it is worth every minute!

Day11-Day12

Transfer to Huacachina. Peru is a very large country and the Ica region is some distance from Cusco. As part of the experience, we have laid on the pinnacle of luxury coach travel to get you there through the night. The level of quality is equivalent to that of first class air travel!

Day12-Day17

Huacachina. Huacachina is quite probably the most amazingly place you will ever go, after Machu Picchu of course. This is a stunning oasis set in the heart of the Ica District. Your experience here will be nothing short of spectacular. We will put you up in a hostel, with access to a great pool and sun beds so that you can relax to your hearts content. On top of that there are many lively bars and restaurants to keep you entertained throughout the day and night.

If you’d prefer to be more active than rejoicing in the endless sun, then there are pedal and rowing boats that you can take out on the oasis. Of course this can be complimented by a jug of home craft lemonade or a bottle of Cusquena beer.

If that isn’t enough, Huacachina is famous for something a little more extreme, sand boarding and dune buggying throughout the desert! Experience the stunning sunset whilst roaring across some of the largest sand dunes in the world at extreme speed; then get out on your sand boards and race your friends down the dunes time after time. You can go and experience this as many times as you wish, it isn’t covered as we thought you’d rather book at your convenience. The rate is around £10 for two hours of adrenaline filled enjoyment.

For the last few years Rob and I have worked closely with the Epilepsy Society, first as team leaders and as tour operators.

Epilepsy Society is the UK’s leading provider of epilepsy services. They are globally known for their pioneering, world-leading research in finding the underlying causes of epilepsy. As well as this they offer a comprehensive range of information resources and helpline giving callers confidential and emotional support. Their fundamental values ensure the voice of people affected by epilepsy is heard.

The Epilepsy Society is a huge part of what Amaquella stands for. Their hands on experience with fundraisers and knowledge of the trek itself, provides them with the experience to motivate and encourage student fundraisers to reach their full potential. Their support has been second to none and we would like to thank them for all they have done for us, and very much look forward to working with them in the future.
