History of Asthma

Asthma goes all the way back to ancient Egypt. A scientist discovered papyrus in the 1870s with hieroglyphics containing hundreds of remedies for asthma.

For their diet, people who have allergies must watch what they eat because asthma can worsen allergic reactions.

Exercising can help improve the symptoms of asthma attacks. People with asthma have to stay in better shape than everyone else so they have an equal fitness levels as normal people.

out for their family member and make sure they stay within their physical limits so there isn’t a chance of an attack

There are two types of medicine. Control drugs are used to control symptoms and must be taken daily, and quick relief drugs are used during an asthma attack to stop the wheezing

Quick-relief medicine is short term relief and will wear away. When you are exercising, take frequent breaks to regain your

breath.

Exercising can be a good way to manage the long-term problem. By being in shape, everything you do will be a whole lot easier because you are more fit.

Individual and Family Impact The individual not be able to

do physical activity because they cannot breathe as well because of their asthma. They also may be held back in activities because they fear of having an asthma attack. The impact on the family is that

they will have to use a lot of time to bring the asthma patient in for check outs, and appointments. The family members may also be hesitant to let the person with asthma participate in strenuous activity.
