Have you ever heard the saying “April show-ers bring May flowers”? Well that is exactly what this issue is about! Just because its raining and dreary outside doesn’t mean that that is what you have to look like. This issue is full of ways to look fabulous during the rainy season before Summer comes and everything is full of beautiful flowers.

We recently sat down with an up and com-

ing fashion designer that is extremely deter-

mined to get the word out about her clothing

line and to be successful as a young designer.

Aman: How did you get started? Adesa: I fell in love with fashion when I was in middle school. I started sewing in the 8th grade and that is when everything took off for me. I made some garments for peo-ple here and there. I took some sewing classes, but for the most part I taught myself how to style, design and sew. Now I am sewing more than ever and trying to continue my business. Aman: What's the name of your fashion line? Adesa: Well my brand name is Adesa D Ona which came from my full name and middle. Aman: What inspired your line? Adesa: In a way society inspired my line, me wanting to sew. I noticed that there were not enough ethnic designers coming from Africa that are well known here in America. I want to bring something new, something different and not seen often. Most of the garments worn in my country (Nigeria) may be considered Avant Garde to the Ameri-can people. So for the lines I’d like to put out there will be inspired by African styles but more toned down for everyday life. I do not only sew African attire, I also sew normal universal looks.

Page 14: Aman Magazine Issue 3

Aman: What do you think will be the trend for spring? Adesa: Pastels and br ight colors, they are always in the spring color wheel, there is a color for everyone. Skater/Circle skirts are the “it” thing right now also the circle dress-es. Aman: What would be your advice for aspiring fashion designers? Adnesa: I would advise them to go for what they plan on doing, take classes and learn from others. Seriously learning from others is a key to sewing; they can learn different tech-niques and methods. The main thing is that do something that will make them unique and standout. Aman:Where can people find you? Twit-ter? Instagram? Adnesa: For now Instagram is my only so-cial network, I also have a Linkedin that I

am trying to get into. I am currently going to Georgia State Universi-ty, where they can also find me.

B randi

Baker has a million reasons to be happy right now: a tight group of girlfriends, being successful in col-lege, having an amazing wardrobe, and she is now Aman magazine’s first cover girl! We chose Brandi because she dare’s to be different. She isn’t afraid to be herself, which is a responsible, hardworking, and determined young woman. Throughout the week Brandi sends her time studying and going to class. On the weekend she spends quality girl time with her resident assistants by taking them bowling, roller skating, or watching reruns of Scandal! She feels it is very im-portant to lead a positive life to show younger girls that you don’t have to be a “Bad Girl” to succeed.

Happy Birthday Doll!! Beware of conflicts and situations that can generate violence or accidents especially on your birthday!

No matter how strong you think your posi-tion is, don't take risks and don't treat medi-cal problems superfi-cially, not even the ones that seem to be insignificant!

You'll have high visi-bility, you'll enjoy appreciation and the liking of the people around you, your reputation will be consolidated, work relationships will strengthen, there will be new clients, new contracts. Money will come to you also!

Cancer June 21– July 22

Leo July 23-Aug 22

Special attention should be given to issues related to accommodation, properties or patri-mony goods. You'd better let off steam by means of an en-ergetic and sus-tained physical en-ergy.

Virgo Aug 23– Sep 22

You can now high-light your talent of a leader and coordina-tor. Your career will also advance!
