The former guesthouse of King Norodom Sihanouk, Amansara is situated on the

Amantaka derives its name from aman (peace) and taka, from Tipitaka, meaning

the teaching of the Buddha in Theravada scholastic literature. Set on a large garden

Amanwana (peaceful forest) is the only resort located on the island of Moyo, a nature

Combining the Sanskrit-derived word for peace with kora or circular pilgrimage in

Mediterranean Sea. This body of water forms the southern border of the continent, and is

where the ancient Greeks consulted their oracles and the Romans built majestic temples

to honour their gods. Modern holiday towns such as Porto Heli on the Peloponnese and

Bodrum in south-western Turkey, are surrounded by ancient ruins as well as natural beauty

as appealing today as it must have been 5,000 year ago.

The Adriatic played a more modern role in the fortunes of the Mediterranean, witnessing

the rise and fall of the Republic of Venice in northeastern Italy. This floating city of canals

and regal palazzos is today a fabled destination known to be one of the most romantic cities

in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Venice is home to the Piazza San Marco and

Saint Marks Basilica.

Also situated on the shores of the Adriatic is Montenegro a country famed for its natural

beauty and still a relative newcomer on Europes tourist scene. From the royal capital of

Cetinje and the quaint town of Budva, to the spectacular Bay of Kotor and peaceful Skadar

Built on water, steeped in history and synonymous with romance, Venice is famed for

its canals, the largest of which the Grand Canal winds its way in a sinuous s-shape

through the heart of the city. Lining this historic thoroughfare are more than 170

gracious buildings between 200 and 700 years old, including the regal 16th-century

In a country famed for its beauty, the most iconic images associated with Montenegro

are of the tiny islet named Sveti Stefan, once a fortified fishing village dating back to the

15th century. Today, the islands cluster of sturdy stone buildings together with Villa

Miloer, a graceful stone manse on the mainland across the bay, comprises the idyllic beachside resort of Aman Sveti Stefan. Completed in 1936, Villa Miloer was originally the summer residence of Queen Marija Karaorevi.

Located in the centre of Montenegros Adriatic coast, the resort incorporates two kilo-

metres of coastline including the pink sandy beaches of Sveti Stefan, Miloer Beach and the renowned Queens Beach. The resort will launch its Aman Spa in May 2014.

Amanruya lies in a quiet valley on Turkeys Bodrum Peninsula facing the Aegean Sea.
