Amac was hosting a party for all of his friends and he needed to know how much supplies he was going to need to supply all of his friends. He was inviting one hundred people to the party so he made a list of what he

needed and headed to the store.

When he got to the store he looked at his list. “One hundred plates” he said. When he headed to the plate aisle he saw that they only sold plates in packs of twenty five. “What times twenty five equals one hundred?” he asked. “Well, I know that two times twenty five is fifty and I know that half of fifty is one hundred. So four times twenty five must be one hundred!”

Next Amac headed to the cups section. “I need one hundred cups.” Amac said. “But they only sell cups in packs of ten. What times ten equals one hundred ?” Amac did the math and discovered that ten times ten equals one hundred. So he picked out ten packs of cups and continued on.

Next Amac needed one hundred sets of forks, knives, and spoons. In each box there were fifteen sets of each. “How many boxes am I going to need to have one hundred of each.” Amac did out the math and found that if he bought seven boxes he would have one hundred of each plus five extra.

After Amac finished shopping he headed to the checkout line to pay for his goods. When the cashier added everything up the final price came out to sixty five dollars. Oddly enough Amac only had five dollar bills in his wallet. “What times five equals sixty five?” Amac thought and thought but could not figure it out. Suddenly Mikey Dunlap walks in the store and walks up to Amac. “Hey Mikey” said Amac. “What times five equals sixty five?” “Why thirteen my good sir!” said Mikey. With that Amac headed home.

When Amac got home he began setting up for the party. “Each table seats twenty people and I need to seat one hundred people.” Amac thought. So Amac did the math and figured that twenty seats times five tables equals one hundred seats in all.

Next Amac set up a setlist for the entire party. He figures that each song lasts about three minutes and the party will last three hours. So Amac figured that there are one hundred and eighty minutes in three hours and since each song lasts three minutes he will need sixty songs because three times sixty equals one hundred and eighty.

After setting up the setlist Amac decided to begin putting food out on the tables. He knew that one bowl of chips would feed about ten people and each table seated twenty people. So Amac multiplied ten times two and got twenty. So Amac knew that each table would need two bowls of chips.

Then Amac ordered pizza. He knew that each pizza had eight slices and he needed a slice for all one hundred people. So he figured that since eight times thirteen was one hundred and four thirteen pizzas was enough.

When Amac finished ordering the pizza guests started to arrive. By the time the pizza arrived the party was in full swing. The music was blasting and people were having a grand ole’ time. At the end of the night Amac looked at the the party and his guests and thought to himself, “Good thing I knew my multiplication!”
