9 ERECTION
9.1 DUCTS SEALING
The ducts shall be sealed using fire stop mortar.
9.2 FIRE RATED PENETRATION
Large apertures in walls will require closing down to the minimal size possible before installing the fire seal barrier. This may be achieved by civil structure to limit the extent of the penetration sealing.
Large apertures in floors will require a support framework for the fire seal barrier. In most cases the frame can be fabricated from galvanised channel.
Fire seal barriers shall be installed in accordance with the supplier's instructions.
10 INSPECTION
On completion of the installation of each seal, or group of seals, an Inspection Check Sheet shall be completed and filed in accordance with the Site Quality Plan.
11 RECORDS
On completion of each installation, it is imperative that materials used are recorded in order to monitor trends and predict shortages. Any surpluses must be returned to stores.
If, for any reason, materials are installed differently to the design this must be reported immediately rather than on completion.
