• If the zoom feature is used the horse may be no larger than ¼ of the screen. The top of the rider to the horse’s hooves must be clearly visible.

• The recording should start approximately 5 seconds before the rider enters the arena.

NOTES FOR YOUR VIDEO

Page 5: Am I Ready Series - equestrian.ca...•The video camera must be placed at “C” (far end of ring/arena), approx. 5 m (16.5 feet) back and between 1.5m-2.5m (5 feet-8 feet) high.

• Make sure you video from the start of the test as the rider turns onto the centre line and keep videoing until after the final halt so we can see some walk work after the final halt. (Just half a dozen steps or so)

• Always film with your back to the sun.

• Make sure you keep the camera steady and try and keep the horse in the centre of the frame and the image as clear as possible.

• Try not to film when there is a sharp contrast in light and dark areas in the arena (when shadows will prevent the rider from properly being seen)

• Use the highest quality setting on your camera.

• Coaching during the test is not permitted. (The test should simulate one that would be ridden in a show environment. The same rules will apply as though you are riding in a competition.)

NOTE: all movements/figures must be shown. The test may be adapted to fit into the arena size available.
