edilon)(sedra is an international supplier of rail fastening systems, rail isolation systems

and noise and vibration reduction systems. We take part in turnkey projects in which

we act as a back-to-back partner for metro-, tram- and train-transportation contrac-

tors.

The edilon)(sedra ERS (Embedded Rail System) has radically changed the concept of how rails can be supported. The use of a homogeneous continuous elastic support along the full length of the rail provides optimal required support, resilience and electrical isolation. Moreover, it eliminates the logistical problems and costs associated with ballast, sleepers, base plates and fasteners, and their subsequent inspection and maintenance.

The system provides a significant reduction in noise and vibration, which is now ever more important in densely populated areas. An example of successful system development is the edilon)(sedra USTS (Urban Slab Track System), a prefabricated slab system that, together with our edilon)(sedra ERS, forms a unique and durable combination for urban areas.

edilon)(sedra EBS (Embedded Block System) consists of monolithic concrete blocks that support running rails. The concrete blocks are elastically sealed into pre-cast concrete trays that are cast permanently into the slab track. This bonding also forms a seal to prevent the ingress of liquids and detritus that cause problems for ordinary ‘booted’ block systems.

edilon)(sedra DFS (Direct Fastening System) is a direct rail fastening system for ballast free track. The system is applied to a range of rail constructions, such as open track, switches, depots, maintenance pits, station areas, tunnels and elevated structures. Variable support stiffness is possible with edilon)(sedra DFS, optimizing the system for the required track characteristics and supporting distances. Consequently, it is possible to influence ride comfort and vibration attenuation.

We search for new systems and materials, follow extensive material testing programmes and evaluate systems, both with various mathematical modelling techniques and mechanically, using life-size models. Our engineers collaborate closely with renowned research institutes, such as the Technical Universities in Munich, Budapest, Berlin, Barce-lona, Milan, Paris and Delft. Our research efforts have led to numerous international patents.
