Testimonial for S9121414H CPL Alvin Tan CPL Tan served under my charge as an infantry trooper during my tenure in Platoon 7, Charlie Coy, 3rd Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment from December 2011 to November 2012. He was appointed the Platoon Commander's Runner and performed his duties to a very good level. His role required him to assist the Platoon Commander with the planning of tactical missions and the administration of the platoon. CPL Tan demonstrates a large capacity for leadership as evinced in his exercising command and control over his platoon and section mates over the course of his National Service. CPL Tan epitomizes the Army's aphorism "...Every Soldier A Leader...'. When assigned tasks by superior officers, CPL Tan would ensure their successful completion. CPL Tan is a team player and always seeks to foster an inclusive environment among his section members and platoon. He would exercise initiative and attempt to meditate any issues to the best of his ability. Failing that, he would inform his superiors and offer solutions to assist the quick resolution of said issues. CPL Tan would also display initiative by preparing all necessary material to ensure effective planning sessions. CPL Tan demonstrates an aptitude for critical thinking evident in the manner in which he is able to draw out salient learning points during after action reviews for the benefit of his peers. Moreover, CPL Tan would also demonstrate creative thinking by developing innovative solutions to resolve administrative issues. CPL Tan also displays a tremendous level of professionalism. He would spend his own time over the weekend making administrative preparations for the platoon. CPL Tan maintains a good level of physical and mental resilience. He is unfazed by adversity and would seek to overcome obstacles despite fatigue and uncertainty. This was apparent during the numerous military exercises where he would maintain a cheerful disposition and even encourage his peers despite the trying circumstances.
