The Alumni Association of Dr. N.G.P Arts and Science College

showcases in accomplishing with the defined objectives to provide

an opportunity to the alumni to interact, grow and enjoy mutual

benefits and also to be instrumental for the development of the

institution. The Alumni Association of Dr. N. G. P. Arts and Science

College were initiated during the academic year 2000 to 2001 and

was registered under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 19/9,

on January 5th, 2018. Execution in the professional world is driven

by the soul of alumni which resonates with the ethics and attitude

imparted by alma mater throughout their journey. The astonishing

events and programmes were received huge success to the student

community to step forward in to their academic and professional

life. The institute invites its alumni for motivating and guiding

students for higher studies, for guest lectures, seminars and also as

judge for various events. The alumni groom the students by giving

the feedback about expectation of industries from fresher. The self-

employed alumni conduct workshops and value addition programs

for students.

DBT Star College Scheme

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, New Delhi, has launched Star College

Scheme with the aim of strengthening life science and biotechnology education and training at undergraduate

level. DBT under the star college scheme sanctioned an amount of Rs. 82.00 lakhs for three years to the

bioscience departments-Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Nutrition and Dietetics. The objective of

the star college scheme is to strengthen the academic and physical infrastructure for achieving excellence in

teaching and training. To Enhance the quality of learning and teaching process, it is stimulated original thinking

through 'hands-on', have an exposure to experimental work and made participation in summer schools.

INNOVATIONS AND INCUBATIONS

EDC Cell

Entrepreneur Development Cell is established to develop and strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in budding

students who are interested in starting their own ventures. The cell also assists prospective entrepreneurs on

various aspects such as preparing project reports, obtaining project approvals, loans and facilities from agencies

of support system, information on technologies, etc. The cell organized DST-NIMAT sponsored three days

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp from 24-26th September 2019. Mr. A.R. Sundaresan (TIIC, Coimbatore),

Mrs & Mr.K.Sivaganesan (UyirMei Annavanam natural farms, Coimbatore),Mr. S. Subash (DIC, Coimbatore),

Ms.Sindhu Parthasarathy (Insight International, Coimbatore),Mrs. B. Kayalvizhi (Ministry of MSME,

Coimbatore), Mr.G.Sriram Prasad (Keeraikadai Coimbatore) were the resource persons for the awareness

camp.

The Incubation center hosted by our academic institution aims

To foster innovation by providing a conducive ecosystem.

Identify potential ideators among the students and faculty and create a platform for them to emerge as

successful entrepreneurs.

To Provide discipline specific training and mentoring

To network with entrepreneurship development institutes, funding agencies and industry to support

entrepreneurial initiatives.

To facilitate students to incubate their innovations in NGP premises.

IIPC Cell

Industry Institute partnership cell (IIPC) is enhanced to build a relationship between the Institution and

Industry. The cell is named as Synergy, Bioface, Techbench, Vetri Padigal,Velicham and Vanigha Valagham for

each faculty. The aim of this cell is to prepare students to meet the latest requirements by facilitating internships

in leading industries, organize Seminars, Workshops, Expert Talks and other Training programmes by experts. It

is also initiated for signing MoU and partnerships with core industries.

IPR Cell

The IPR cell and DBT-Star departments jointly organized National Workshop on Intellectual

Property Rights (WIPR -19) on February 15-16, 2019. Dr. S. P. Subramaniyan, Deputy Controller and Mr. V.

Palanisamy, Assistant controller from Chennai Patents Office were resource persons. More than 350 students

and all staff members in the DBT-Star departments attended the program.The workshop was conducted with the

aim of generating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among students, research scholars and

faculty members thereby furnishing requisite guidance and proficiency about an assortment of procedures of

patent search and application filing. The workshop is indeed a podium to foster pioneering minds amid

participants and identification of protectable innovations.

Hepatitis Day Awareness Programme was organized by the Alumni

Association, on 28.07.2019 and Our Principal Prof. Dr.V.Rajendran

inaugurated the event, graced the occasion and it became a platform

to the students to discuss and share their ideas.

Account of the Teachers Day Celebration the Alumni Association organized a talk, given by M.Subramaniya Siva, Professor, Udumalpet on 05.09.2019.

International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21th 2019, 8.30 a.m. at NGP Conference Center. The event

was organized by Center for Value Education and was presided by Prof.Dr.V.Rajendran, Principal,

Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College. Ms.S.Ranjitha, Alumni, Department of English acted as the resource

person. She instructed various asanas and its benefits to the gathering. Around 250 students and 50 staff

members took part in the event. Deans of various portfolio's and Heads of Departments also participated in

the event. Ms.S.Ranjitha was honored by our Principal at the end of the event.
