40th Anniversary Dinner held at school on October 24, 2015
Laughter, hugs, exclamations, conversa-tions, good food, photographs - very old and newly taken, private jokes dredged up again, old friends and FUN.
This was the scene in the school gym at the Alumni Dinner celebrating the school’s 40th Anniversary.

Alumni news
By Alana Schmidt ‘82 (née McKnight)
We chatted informally with former and current teachers. And we heard from four of the eight principals in our history. They told stories that made us all laugh and most importantly, they told stories of God’s faithfulness and provision.
Our school is well named: Emmanuel, God with us.
2010 was the class with the most in attend-
ance - ten! Current high school students
graciously helped out with serving food,
taking tickets, and cleaning up, all looking
very sharp in their school uniforms.
People came from 4000 km away and four blocks away and many distances in be-tween. People came from the first graduat-ing class and the most recent graduating class and many classes in between.
“...they told stories of God’s
faithfulness and provision“
Mr. Charpentier leads Alumni Choir at 40th Anniversary Dedication Service
On a Thursday evening in late September, some of us grads gathered in the
school for a special reason. Mr.Charpentier walked into room 103 with an armful
of music. We had songs to learn, to sing at the upcoming Dedication Service.
It was like being back in Creative Arts class. Some things don’t change in forty
years; in choir, you need to sing with all your heart (and voice). And Mr.C’s
directing is exactly the same. “Smile!”
We worked hard and laughed a lot and even paused for a picture. The next
night, we sang our medley for the school community at the Dedication and
ended it, appropriately, with the chorus of the school song in both French and
English.

Retirements
In June 2015 we bid farewell to two pillars of our community.
Mr. George Van Kampen retired after spending 4 years as Emman-uel’s Principal and a total of 40 years in Christian education. He is now back in Ontario with his fam-ily .
M. Jean Sauvageau retired after 25 years as Emmanuel’s gym teacher and Badminton guru. He is now focusing on songwriting and leading worship at his church.
We thank them for their commit-ment to Christian education.
God Bless!

Thank you to Mrs. Petra Van Kampen who oversaw the creation of this collaborative
mural in the Secondary 5 hall. Its title “Every Square Inch” represents God’s
sovereignty over all aspects of our life. 50 students, staff, alumni and board members
participated in this mural by representing what this theme meant to them.
Congratulations to
Katie Tracy for re-
ceiving the Governor
General Medal for
Highest Academic
Achievement in High
School. This medal
was presented at our
Dedication Service.
