Transcript of Alternative rock's codes and conventions
In Alternative rock magazines, it quite often seems
that there is a quirkiness about the artists in the main
image but it also depends on who they are as a
character. Generally, the masthead is placed at the
top of the magazine, and often has the musician or
band in front of it. The person normally wears clothes
that connote rock music, so this could be skinny jeans,
quite a lot of black etc. However, since this is a sub-
genre of rock, the colours can be more varied and
bright.
The main image quite often covers the title of the
magazine.
The people in the main image always look at the
audience.
Often has free posters inside.
Usually has bright colours- either the lettering, the main
image or the background.
