►AppSettings

ToedittheAltaMailappsettings,taponthe3linedbuttoninthetopleftofthescreen.Thentaponthecogbuttoninthetopofthesidepanel.Youcantaponthetitleofeachsettingssectiontoopenthesettingsforthatsection.

►Add/Edit/DeleteEmailAccounts

AltaMailsupportsvirtuallyallemailaccounttypes,IMAP,Exchange,EWS,POP3,Outlook,Gmail,Yahoo,Verizon,Comcast,iCloud,BTInternet,PECandmanymore.Ithasasetupwizardthatwillhelpyouwithallthedetailsofyouraccount.Simplyenteryouremailaddressandpassword(ifneeded)andthesetupwizardwilldotherest.Usethe"Manual"buttontocreateanaccountwithyourownsettings.

Tocreateanewemailaccount,taponthe3linebuttoninthetopleftofthescreentoshowtheleftsidepanel.Taponthe"Accounts"buttonnearthebottomofthesidepanel.Taponthe"+"buttonbesidetheAccountsbuttontoaddanaccount.

Toeditaccounts,taponthe"Accounts"buttonintheleftsidepanelandthentaponthecogsettingsbuttonbesideanaccount.

Youcandeleteaccountsbyeditinganaccount,scrolldowntothebottomoftheeditscreenandthentapon"DeleteAccount"

►EditEmailAccounts

Toeditemailaccounts:

Taponthe3linebuttoninthetopleftofthescreentoshowtheleftsidepanel.Taponthe"Accounts"buttonintheleftsidepanelandthentaponthecogsettingsbuttonbesideanaccount.

►EditEmailAccountSettings

Toedityouremailaccountsettings:

1. Opentheleftsidepanelwiththebuttoninthetopleftofthescreen(3lines).2. Scrolldownandthentaponthe"Accounts"button.3. Taponthesettingsicon(cog)besidetheaccountnametoeditthesettings.4. Taponeachoftheblueheadingbuttonstodisplaydifferentoptions.

Taponthe"Test"buttoninthetoprighttotestyouraccountsettings.

►AdvancedEmailSettings

YoumaywanttoadjustsomeofthestandardemailaccountsettingswithinAltaMail.Taponthe3linedbuttoninthetopleftofthescreentoopentheleftsidepanel.TapontheAccountsbuttontoshowallaccountsandthentaponthecogbuttonbesidetheaccounttoedittheaccountsettings.Taponthe"Advanced"sectiontoviewtheadvancedsettings.

Autorefreshopenedfolders-Thissettingwillrefreshfolderswhenyouviewthem.Otherwiseyoucandragtheemaillistdowntorefreshit.

Autocheckemailfolders-Thissetsthefoldersthatyouwishtoberefreshedautomatically,evenwhenyouarenotviewingthefolder.

Folders-Viewandeditthefoldersfortheaccount.

Preloademailcontent-Thiswillloadthemessagesummaryofanewemailandleaveattachmentsforlater.View

Preloadwholecontent-Thiswillloadthemessageandattachmentcontentofanewemail.

Deletefromserver(onlyshowsif"Syncincomingmail"isoff)-thisenablesyoutosetwhenamessageinthetrashwillbedeletedfromtheserver.

Sync"Read"status-ThiswillshowanyemailthathasbeenreadinAltaMail,asbeingreadinyourotheremailsoftware(andviceversa).

SyncFlagstatus-FlagssetinAltaMailwillalsoshowinyourotheremailsoftware(andviceversa).Note,someaccounttypesdon'tallowcustomflagssothoseflagswillbesetinsideAltaMailandnotontheemailserver

Syncincomingemail-ThiswillensureemailthathasbeendeletedinAltaMailwillberemovedinotherapps,andviceversa.

Trashmailfolder-Thisenablesyoutochoosethefolderthatdeletedemailsaresentto.

Syncsentemail-ThiswillsynchroniseanyemailthatissentfromAltaMailwithyourotheremailsoftware(andviceversa).

Savesentmail-Ifyouremailaccountdoesn'tautomaticallysavesentemailtothesentfolder,turningonthissettingwillsaveyoursentmailinstead.

Sentemailfolder-Youcanchoosethefolderthatsentemailsaresavedin.

Syncdraftsemail-ThiswillsynchroniseanydraftemailinAltaMailwithyourotheremailsoftware(andviceversa).

Draftsemailfolder-Thissettingwillsaveyourdraftsonyouremailserverforaccessinothersoftware.

Usage-ThisenablesyoutosetthemaximumstoragelimitAltaMailwilluseonyouriPadoriPhoneforthisparticularaccount.Oncethislimitisreached,olderemailcontentwillhavebereloadedfromtheemailserverwhenviewing.

►SendingEmailSettings

Differentsettingsareusedforsendingemailsthanfromreceivingemail,unlessyouareusingExchange.ExchangeemailaccountscansendemailviaExchangebutyoucanalsochoosetosendemailviaanSMTPserverinstead.

Opentheemailaccountsettingsscreen.(View)Thentapon"OutgoingMailServer"toviewtheoutgoingemailsettingsscreen.

CheckwithyouremailprovidertoseewhatyoursettingsareforyourSMTPserver.

Ifyouremailserverneedsausernameandpassword,turnon"RequiresUsername".

YoucanchangeadvancedconnectionsettingssuchasSSLandserverportnumberinthe"Advanced"section.Ifyouareusingport25thenyouwillneedtouseausernameandpassword.Youmayneedtouseport465or587.

Taponthe"Test"buttoninthetoprighttotestyouraccountsettings.

►Synchronizesettingsacrossdevices

Youcansynchronizemostsettingsbetweenyourdevices.eg.Emailaccounts,reminders,rules,searches,notificationsettings,appearanceetc.

Opentheappsettings(View)-EmailManagementsectionandthenyoucanturnthe"Synchronizesettings"onoroff.Ifthissettingisnotavailable,makesureyouhaveiCloudDriveenabledonthisdevice.ThisisApple'shelpforenablingtheiCloudDriveoptionintheSettingsapp:https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204025

Youcantapon'Details'tochooseindividualsyncsettingsforitems.

YoursettingsaresynchronizedandprotectedusingyouriCloudaccount.Ifyouhaveproblemswithdatasyncing,opentheFilesscreenintheleftsidepanel,thentaponCloudserversandtaptoopen'iCloud'.CreateafolderorimportafileintotheiCloudserver.NowopentheiCloudserveronanotherdeviceandcheckthatthenewfile/folderappearstheretoo.YoumayneedtocheckyouriCloudsettings,suchassyncingoverWiFionly.Itemsaresynchronizedwhentheyaresaved,soyoucaneditanaccountorruleetc.andclosingthescreenwillsavetheitembeingedited.

YoucanclearallsynceddatafromiCloudwiththe"Clear"button,butmakesureyouturnoffsyncingonalldevicesbeforeyoudothis.Otherwiseitemssuchasrules,filtersetc.willberemovedfromotherdevices.

►UseSiriShortcutstoperformtasksandchangeview

YoucanuseiOS12shortcutsinAltaMailusingthedeviceSettingsapp-Siri&Search-AltaMail(inthelowerpartofthescreen)(Applehelp)Youcanassignavoicecommandtotheshortcutsusingthe"+"buttonbesideeachshortcut.YoucanalsoaddshortcutstoyourmacrosintheShortcutsapp.

WhenyouusetheleftsidepaneltoviewascreensuchasaFolderFilter,Splitscreen,Locationsetc,mostscreenssupportSiriShortcutsandwillshowan"AddtoSiri"optioninthebottomoftheactionmenu(buttoninthetoprightwithsquareandarrowicon).Whenyoutapon"AddtoSiri"youwillbepromptedtoaddavoicecommandfortheshortcutandthiswillbesavedinthedeviceSettingsapp-Siri-Shortcutssection.Youcanusethevoicecommandyoujustcreatedtorepeattheactionyoujustdid.Whenyoucreateanewemailyoucanalsouse"AddtoSiri"intheactionmenutocreateanewemailagainandthenyoucaneditthemessageandsendit.Whenyouchoose"AddtoSiri"whensendingatemplatetocontacts,thevoiceshortcutwillsendthattemplatetothesameusersagainwithoutneedingtoopenAltaMail.Forexampleifyouwanttotellpeopleyouareonyourwayhomeorcallameetingbysendingatemplatetoalistofcontacts.ThiscanalsobeusedintheShortcuts,eg.tellSiri-"Callasalesmeeting"

Bydefaultyouwillseetheshortcuts"Enablenotificationsounds"and"Disablenotificationsounds".eg.Thesecanbeusedwhenyouareinameeting.WhenyoumanuallydisablethenotificationsoundsinsidetheAltaMailNotificationSettings,anewshortcutwillbesuggestedwiththetimerangeinhoursthatyouentered.Soyoucoulddisablesoundsfor8hours.Youcouldalsousetheshortcutsapptomergeseveralshortcutsintoone.(Applehelp)eg.IfyoucreateacustomshortcutintheShortcutsappcalled"Iamawake",youcouldaddtheAltaMail"Enablenotificationsounds"shortcuttothelistasoneoftheactions.Youcouldalsocreatea"Goodnight"shortcutthatincludestheAltaMail"Disablenotificationsounds"shortcutfor8hours.Ofcourse,youcanstillusethealternateoptionofsettingascheduletodisablenotificationsandsoundsintheNotificationSettings.View

YoucanalsosendanemailfromAltaMailusingSiribyusingthephrase"SendamessageusingAltaMail","SendamessagetoJohnusingAltaMail"or"SendamessagetoJohnusingAltaMailsayingHiJohnIwillbetheresoon"IfsomeadditionaldetailsarerequiredthenSiriwillaskforthem,suchastherecipientormessage.CurrentlythesubjectforanewmessageispredefinedintheAltaMailappsettings-Emailsection.Forsecurityreasons,AltaMailwillaskforaccesstosendemailswhenthefirstemailiscreatedwithSiri.Thiscanbechangedintheappsettings-Privacysection.YouwilneedtoopenAltaMailthefirsttimeyousendanemail,butnexttimeafterthat,emailswillbesentinthebackgroundifyouallowaccess.

OthershortcutswillbesuggestedasyouuseAltaMail.Forexample,whenyouswipetosendanemailtemplateandaddsomecontacts,ashortcutwillbecreatedinthedeviceSettingsapp-Sirisettings,torepeatthatprocess.

Ifyouusetheleftsidemenutoopenanemailaccountfolder,thatactionwillbesuggestedasashortcutinthedeviceSettingsapp-Siri&Search-AltaMailsettings.

YoucanprocessAltaMailshortcutsfromyourLockScreen.Todisablethisfeature,turnoff"AllowonLockScreen"inthedeviceSettingsapp-Siri&Search-AltaMailsettings.

Youcaninsertimagesinsideanemailmessagebetweensectionsoftext.Openanewemailandstartediting,Doalongtapontheemailmessageandandchoose"More"fromthepopupmenu.Thenyouwillseetheadvancedformattingmenu.Tapontheinsertimagebuttonthatlookslikeamountainphototochooseimagestoinsertintoyouremailmessage.

►Emailrecipientaddresssuggestions

Whenyoustarttypinganemailaddressinthe"To","CC",or"BCC"sectioninanewemail,youwillseeemailaddresssuggestionsinalookuplist.Thesesuggestionsareaddedfromyourcontactlistandalsothe"KnownSenders".Knownsendersareemailaddressesthatyouhavesentemailstopreviously.Theicontotheleftofthesuggestedaddressindicateswheretheaddresscamefrom.

Youcanremoveaddressesfromthe"KnownSender"listbyswipingleftonanaddresssuggestionthathastheknownsendericon.Youcanalsoview/editthewholeknownsenderlist.Opentheappsettings(View)-EmailManagement-KnownSenders.

►Resendasentorreceivedmessage

Youcanuseasentorreceivedemailtocreateanewemailtosendagain.

Whenviewinganemail,tapontheactionmenubutton(squarewitharrow)andchoose"Resend".Thiswillcreateanewemailfromthepreviousemail.Alloftheformattingandattachmentswillbekeptthesame.Youcanalsoselectanemailinthefolderlistviewandchoose"Resend"fromtheactionmenutheretoo.

Yourownemailaddresswillbeusedasthe"From"address.Ifyouhavethe"from"addressinyouroutgoingaccountsettingsoranemailalias,thentheFromaddresswillremainthesame.

Attachments

►Sendingdocumentsattachments

Youcansendimagesandfileswithyouremails.Whenyoutapontheemailbuttontocreateanewemail,youcantaponthepaperclip��buttonatthetopofthescreentoaddattachments.Ifinstead,youareviewingtheadvancedbuttonviewaftertappingonthe"..."button,thentaponthe"+"buttonontherightoftheAttachmentsareabelowthesubject.

Inthechoosefile/photo(Places)screen,youcanaddselectoneofthecloudserverandfilelocationstoviewfiles.Taponthecircletotheleftofeachfileandthentapon"Add"orjustusethebackarrowtoaddtheselectedfilestoyouremail.

Todeleteanyattachments,taponthecircletotheleftofeachattachmenttoselectit,thentapontheactionmenubuttontotherightandselect"Delete".Ifthereisonlyoneattachmentthenyoudon'tneedtoselectitfirst,justtapontheactionmenubutton.

Youcanusethe"+"buttoninthetopofthechoosePlacesscreentoaddmorecloudserveraccounts,egGoogleDrive,OneDrive,DropBoxetc.orWePrintforsharingyourMacorPCfiles.Choosethenewcloudservertypeandenteryourusernameetc.ifrequired.The"FileProviders"itemwillallowyoutochoosefromotherfileproviderapps.Tapon"MoreLocations"inthe"iCloudDrive"screentoaddmore.

►AttachphotosandfilesfromyourMacorPC

YoucanattachfilesandphotosfromyourmacorPCusingthefreeWePrint"SendtoDevice"feature.Firstly,installWePrintonyourMacorPCfromhere:http://esz.us/wp

CreateanewemailonyouriPhone/iPadandleaveitopen.OpentheWePrintwindowandtaponthe"Transfer"tab.YoushouldnowseeyouriPhoneoriPadinthelistofdevices.YoucannowdragfilesandphotosontothedeviceiconinsidetheWePrintwindowandthefileswillbetransferredtoyouriPhone/iPadandattachedtheemailthatisopen.

OnaMac,youcanalsoprintdocumentstosendtoAltaMailasaPDF.Openadocumentprintdialog.Taptoaddanewprinterandselect"SendtoDevice".Thenwhenyouprintthedocument,WePrintwillopenandallowyoutosendthenewPDFtoyouriPhone/iPadsendemailscreen.

IfyouriPhone/iPadisnotavailableinsideWePrint,makesureyourdeviceandtheWePrintcomputerareinthesamenetwork.Alsomakesureyouhavethe"WiFiclipboardtransfer"turnedonintheAltaMailsettings-Clipboardsection.

►Sendingphotosinemails

Youcansendimagesandfileswithyouremails.Whenyoutapontheemailbuttontocreateanewemail,youcantaponthepaperclip��buttonatthetopofthescreentoaddattachments.Ifinstead,youareviewingtheadvancedbuttonviewaftertappingonthe"..."button,thentaponthe"+"buttonontherightoftheAttachmentsareabelowthesubject.

Inthechoosefile/photo(Places)screen,scrolldowntothephotoalbumsandchooseone.Youcanthentaptochoosephotosandtapon"Add"orjustusethebackarrowtoaddthephotostoyouremail.

Foradvancedusers,youcanusethesizemenuatthebottomofthephotoselectionscreen.Youcanchangetheimagesize(orfileformatifapplicable)ifyouwanttoreducethesizeoftheemailyouaresending.

Ifyouwanttoincludephotosinsideamessageyouaretyping,youcandoalongtaponthetextpositionyouwant.Inthepopupmenu,choose"More"andthentapontheimagebutton.Thenyoucanchoosephotosinthesamewayasbeforeandthephotoswillbeinsertedintothetextmessage.

►Zippingfileandphotoattachments

Onceyouhaveaddedsomeattachmentstoanewemail,youcanzipthefiles/photosintoasinglezipfile.Tapthecheckboxtotheleftofeachattachmentinthenewemailscreen,thentapontheactionmenubuttontotheright.Choose"Zip"andthenthefileswillbezipped.Ifyouwanttorenamethenewzipfile,tapontheactionmenubuttonagainandthenselect"Rename".

►Sendingimagesanddocumentsfromotherapps

Youcansendwebpages,documentsandphotosfrominsideotherappswhichusethestandardactiondialogwithextensions.Theactionmenubuttonlocationwillvaryinotherapps,butthestepsbelowrelatetoappslikeSafariandPhotosetc.Note:YoucansendphotosinsideAltaMailbyusingtheattachmentbuttononanewemail.

►ConvertingattachmentstoaPDF

ThereareseveralwaystoconvertafileorattachmentintoaPDF.Method1-Directfromanemail

Signaturescanbeeditedwithcustomfonts,styles,colorsandembeddedimages.Advanceduserscaneveneditthesignatureformattingcodedirectly.
