You may have little logistical support, but you must collect and interpret data that is meaningful and valuable. ALS wants you to focus your energy on exploration and resource definition, not the headache of chain of custody issues and managing multiple service providers. To this end we offer a full spectrum of no-hassle Core Services that may be bundled in any combination and offered at any of our labs or on-site at your project as needed. ALS Core Services encompass core handling and warehouse management, core sawing, secure and comfortable logging facili - ties, core photography, in-situ XRF and spectral mineralogy analysis, and a perpetual online archive of storage inventory, core box photos and geochemical and mineralogical data. Core Logistics and Archive Management ALS will work with you to design a core handling and archive system that best suits your needs and your site. This can be as simple as organizing the shipping of core boxes to and from one of our global labs and your project site, or as complex as full featured, on-site management of your core warehouse including on-site work-order entry, core cutting, photography, sample collection and shipping logistics. Regardless of location, all core is stored in secure facilities with online inventory tracking. While in ALS’ chain of custody you can quickly find the location of any core box, anywhere in the world, through our Webtrieve TM online portal. You will save precious time and effort locating and retrieving archived core from our barcoded storage racking. Just let us know which boxes you need, grab a coffee, and they will be ready for you to examine. Core Logging Facilities ALS provides bright, well-lit, and secure rental space for core logging. These core sheds can be outfitted on your project site as well. Facilities include layout tables with rollers, a DSLR camera positioned for core box photos, internet access, a computer station, desk space, and comforts including washrooms and a kitchenette. Portable instruments including XRF and various spectral mineralogy solutions are available for use. You capture the data and we will upload it to our global database, available on Webtrieve TM to anyone you need to share it with. Core Photography and In-Situ AnalysisWhether you’re logging on site and shipping core to ALS, or you have an ALS core management system in place at your project, we can take care of the core photography for you. High resolution photos with excellent lighting are taken for each core box and the photos are uploaded to our CoreViewerTM system for online archiving. We go even further and create a photographic core strip from the box photos, which may be depth-linked to any down-hole data you have. This includes geochemical analyses, down-hole geophysics, and any portable XRF or spectral mineralogy data captured on the intact core. Your geologists in offices around the world can now take a site trip from the comfort of their own desks.
Core CuttingALS offers you the benefit of safe, fast, efficient, high quality core sawing in a clean environment. Our sawing technicians are well-trained and can handle a variety of rock types, from shaley sedimentary units to extra hard ultramafics. We use sophisticated semi-automated and computerized core saws, with the option of speed control for precision cutting. We also offer bulk density and specific gravity determinations on whole or half core as requested.
