Characteristics of the original super-grip sole:Based on its special structure with highly effective cushioning layers, the super-grip sole offers additional comfort. The EVA midsole automatically compensates for any ground unevenness, and the oil- and grease-resistant rubber tread sole has a slip-resistant effect, in addition to fulfi lling the regulatory requirements of 13287:2007, SRC. When walking on different surfaces, people gradually build up an electric charge.

Given that even the smallest electrostatic discharge can lead to serious compli-

cations in operating theatres or intensive care wards, effective countermeasures

must be taken.

Antistatic clogs made of ALPRO®-foam protect intensive care patients and sensi-

tive operating theatre technology from such hazardous discharges. Charges are

gently dissipated and larger electrostatic pulses are prevented.

All A 650 and A 650 Air operating theatre clogs are equipped with replaceable

antistatic footbeds. The A 470 AS clogs have an integrated, preformed footbed

that, like the entire clog, is made of a fl exible, antistatic foam mixture.

The slip resistance of Clog A 640 with steel toe cap was tested by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with DIN EN ISO 20345:2007, SRC.

Positive results: The sole profi le is slip-resistant on ceramic tiles with cleaning agent and on steel fl oors with glycerol.

The DIN EN ISO standardsTen years ago, a series of pan-European regulations were establi-

shed for protective, professional and safety footwear. Based on the

following regulations, TÜV Rheinland (German Technical Inspection

Agency) tests and approves ALPRO® models.

· DIN EN ISO 20344: Requirements and test methods

· DIN EN ISO 20345: Safety footwear specifi cations

· DIN EN ISO 20346: Protective footwear specifi cations

· DIN EN ISO 20347: Occupational footwear specifi cations

Professional footwear refers to all shoes that have slip-resistant,

antistatic or similar qualities. Generally speaking, occupational shoes

are not equipped with any special toe protection.

Models with toe protection are grouped in the categories of protective

footwear (e.g. plastic caps, test energy up to 100 joules) or safety

footwear (steel toe caps, test energy up to 200 joules).

Classifi cation of standardsSB: Standard (refers to general basic requirements; open-heel

models can also be part of this classifi cation);

S1: Standard safety footwear = SB + antistatic + energy absorption

in heel area;

S2: Standard safety footwear for wet areas;

S3: Standard safety footwear for wet areas with puncture-resistant,

profi led sole and closed-heel area

ALPRO® models certifi ed in accordance with DIN EN ISO-standardsThe majority of ALPRO® models meet one of the DIN EN ISO

professional footwear standards.

The ALPRO® PU-clog without steel toecap complies with the DIN EN

ISO 20347:2007, SRC, E, OB standard.

The soles of our ALPRO® models have been tested by TÜV Rheinland

in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13287:2007. This regulation specifi es

that at least one of the following three categories must be fulfi lled:

· SRA – Slip resistance on ceramic tiles with cleaning agent

· SRB – Slip resistance on steel fl oor with glycerol

· SRC – Slip resistance on ceramic tiles with cleaning agent and on

steel fl oors with glycerol

ALPRO® sandals and clogs with soft footbed and super-grip sole and

ALPRO® PU-clogs have passed the SRC category. ALPRO® models

with the ALPRO® moulded sole meet the SRA category.

Nowadays, therefore, the original ‘Made in Germany’ certifi cate of origin stands for much more: a commitment to quality that customers and trade partners all over the world have come to rely upon and trust.

Not least for this reason, ALPRO® regards ‘Made in Germany’ as both an obligation and a mark of distinc-tion. Since the foundation of our company, all of our sandals and clogs have been produced exclusively in Germany. Marketing, product development and sales activities are also organised here.

This is an indispensable part of our company philosophy, and will never change. This also represents an added benefi t: we are present on site to carry out quality controls, whilst being able to collaborate with partners on the constant development of our shoes and ensure the high levels of quality you have come to expect from ALPRO®!

Concerning production activities in Germany, we take advantage of the latest technological develop-ments and German engineering expertise to ensure we are always at the forefront. Thanks to this, many of our processes have been streamlined in the past few years to enhance effi ciency. One example is the doubling of press processes, which has led to improved quality and compliance with the latest environmental standards.

The cork-latex footbeds licensed by Birkenstock are, just like the super-grip sole, the fruit of Ger-man inventors. You should have a few millimeters of

space in the heel and toe areas.

Your toes and heel should not

touch the footbed rim.

Selecting the correct length is just as important as choosing the proper width.

In contrast to other soles, the ALPRO® moulded sole is cast individually. This ensures that they do not stain smooth fl oors and are particularly slip-resistant on ceramic tiles with cleaning agent (certifi ed by TÜV Rheinland based on DIN EN ISO 13287:2007, SRA).

Well protected against electrostatic dischargeThe DIN EN ISO standards for ESD shoes

Danger: electrostatic dischargesESD is the international abbreviation for electrostatic discharge.

When two objects with different charges attract, a charge equali-

sation occurs – often in the form of a visible spark or electric shock

within the timeframe of a microsecond.

For humans, this discharge can only be felt when it exceeds 3,000

volts. Nevertheless, 30 volts are enough to damage electronic com-

ponents, and charges as low as fi ve volts can cause serious damage

or even destroy sensitive high-frequency and semiconductor pro-

ducts such as microchips and PCBs.

As a result of this, anyone who works with such

sensitive components – and/or wants to pro-

tect themselves and others from unpleasant

shocks – requires professional equipment

to protect products and others from hazar-

dous discharges and to prevent components

from being destroyed.

Protection: footwear with ESD resistanceIn accordance with DIN EN ISO 61340, ESD shoes provide reliable

protection against the aforementioned danger of electrostatic

discharge in the recommended contact resistance range between

105 and 3.4 × 107 ohm.

In order to ensure that ESD shoes are effective, special conductive

fl ooring must be fi tted correctly. The following factors should also be

considered concerning electrostatic dissipation: interaction between

various ground types and different sole materials (PU, EVA), clothing,

type of touch and climate.

ALPRO® ESD models are certifi ed in accordance with DIN EN ISOALPRO® ESD sandals and clogs have been tested by TÜV Rheinland.

All ALPRO® ESD models fully comply with DIN EN ISO 61340 in the

recommended contact resistance range between 105 and 3.4 × 107

ohm.

we work in close compliance with the latest environmental standards.

Sustainable productionSince the company was founded in 1993, we select our suppliers and

producers based on a range of measures to protect the environment,

including resource-friendly, CFC-free production methods, low-energy

buildings, and warm-water generation from photovoltaic systems.

All of this has helped us to reduce our energy consumption by over

95% in the last 15 years – our suppliers and production plants

included.

Modern recyclingAll surplus ALPRO® foam and ALPRO® cell materials left over from sole

production are reused – for instance, in the construction of children’s

play parks or sports centres, or as fl ooring or insulating material for

noise protection. All of our cardboard boxes and packaging materials

are completely recycled, too. In order to achieve this along with all of

our customers and stockists, we have signed a waste disposal con-

tract with Interseroh. This guarantees the correct and sustainable

disposal of all ALPRO® delivery and packaging materials.

Responsible catalogue productionOur commitment to the environment is not only limited to direct pro-

duction methods. The ALPRO® catalogue is also printed on environ-

mentally friendly FSC® paper. Paper with FSC® certifi cation is produ-

ced in complete harmony with the environment – its components are

yielded exclusively from sources of

responsible forestry. In such practi-

ces, the sensitive ‘forest’ ecosystem

is encroached upon as little as possi-

ble. Nature is given enough time to

regenerate and the forestry indus-

try intervenes only when completely

necessary.
