Focus on Fitness Brandon Bauerly Alpine’s fitness family player of the month

Brian and Andrea Ries and their three children, Peter, Amelia and Grace. The staff at Alpine always enjoys having members of the Ries family in the building. Brian’s workout in-cludes cardio and circuit weight training. An-drea attends classes when her schedule allows, uses the cardio equipment, takes tennis lessons and plays in drills. Peter takes private lessons and the girls participate in Quick Start. The Ries family likes the staff and atmosphere at Alpine. So do we! Thanks a lot Ries family.

Brandon comes to Alpine regularly for the junior camp with the most im-portant thing, a really great attitude. Brandon works hard every lesson, always responsive to instruction, mo-tivated and enthusiastic. He is a very busy young man but always makes time for tennis. Brandon says, “What I like about Al-pine is great instruction, being able to slide on clay and having a place to practice my skills inside and away from the elements. We appreciate your attitude and energy Keep up the great work.

Quick Start Tennis Camp

Great instruction, plenty of enthusiastic helpers, “Around the world, “Get out of jail”, all those “UP” demonstrations, lots and lots of balls, many short nets, tons of praise, millions of freeze pops and a lot of fun were all the ingredients for a successful camp. A huge thank you to Julie, Carter, Travis, Andrea, Katie, Gus, Mark, Bob and and all those great kids! Please contact the front desk to find out about the Quick Start fall schedule and very affordable package session rates for members!

Some members may remember contributing to a Scholarship fund established in Gene Kremer’s name. Those funds matched by Alpine helped three young potential tennis play-ers participate in the Quick Start Program. Their families were very appreciative. Thanks again to all the members who donated to this worthwhile fund.

Quick Start Tennis Camp at Alpine Tennis & Fitness Club

The Quick Start program utilizes smaller courts, lower nets, smaller rackets, a simplified scoring system and low compression balls. These specialized balls bounce lower and travel less distance. This enables young players to develop proper stoke technique and foot work because the ball lands in their strike zones, rather than going over their heads. The scaled down version of the net and court enable the young player to keep the ball in play longer. Kids gain confidence and build better playing skills. Quick Start Tennis is scaled down to fit the size, age and abilities of young players, making the learning process easier and a lot more fun!

Children ages 4-12 will benefit from this fun and exciting new program. Younger players will work on hand-eye coordination and basic stroke tech-nique. Intermediate players will reinforce stroke technique, learn to use a good grip, practice fundamentals of footwork and learn to maintain a rally. Advanced players will incorporate patterns of play, basic strategy and scor-ing. Most importantly, our goal is to lay the foundation for a lifelong love of the game by making every class fun and exciting! We have certified tennis teaching professionals on staff with high school players helping out. Ad-vanced youth players may graduate to the Junior camp clinic.
