Jim earned an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama. He
moved to Decatur, GA in 1980 working for an engineering consulting firm. Corporate
downsizing created a career crossroad and led him back to his passion and family business of
furniture, fabric and design. Jim moved to Alpharetta in 1989 and sought to furnish his new
home. He experienced the challenges firsthand; he needed quality, high-end furniture and
simply could not find it. He knew he could do much better than anyone else in the market,
which led to the opening of Home Fashion Center in 1990. That business has continued to
expand and is now Home Fashion Interiors.
